I dunno. But it should give more of a chance of others catching up. Certainly more chance than in the Russian league with Anzhi. It's already a competitive league so the likes of Bayern doing well should force others to up their game.

Hmm, probably partially. I think part of the thing is that the big glamourous Champs Lge teams that people see vary every year - due to the competitiveness of the league - so fans don't usually build up any attachment to wanting to watch a particular German team. While with Italy/Spain it's the same teams every year, and as you say, they get further.

Gotta remember Germany are doing well atm as well financially as a whole. They might see continued growth this decade where others won't.

Well they are currently ranked behind La Liga and EPL, I presume that is because they don't really do well in Europe. The gap between them and those leagues isn't that big that some clever buys could improve that standing and help them compete better in Europa and CL.

I can understand sacking mick , but I dont really understand replacing him with bruce. Replacing Bruce with o neil made sense as o neils management track record is far superior, however bruce for mick is at the very best change for change sake. In my opinion its an actual downgrade.

I agree that he's not as good as he's hyped up to be, but he's still a very good manager.

Yeah wouldn't disagree. He's a manager that organises well and gets the best out of limited players. His teams are never good to watch and i don't think he's the best in the transfer market either.

£4m for Harewood? £8.5m for Reo-Coker? £10m for Curtis Davies? £5m for Luke Young? £8m for Cueller? £6m for Delph?

I know all managers sign duds - O'Neils just seem to be bloody expensive ones.

Played good football, constant top 6th finishes, highest points tally in 30 years, highest goals scored in 15 years (since that great Villa team) and should have qualified for the Champo League a few years ago if the players didn't bottle it.

That CL season all went to pot when he played a weakened squad in that UEFA QF or whatever so they could concentrate on the league. Never really recovered.

What is thought by many, including me, is that he is very good at getting owners of football clubs to spend money they haven't got...

At Villa for example, he spent £120m on transfer fees during his time at the club and recouped only £30m. Not to mention more than doubled their annual wage bill. When Lerner decided the old adage of speculating to accumulate wasn't working, he reined O'Neil in. Who sulked and resigned.
