oh no it gets better than that, Thierry Henry might be on his way back. talk about scraping the bottom of the barrel. He's well passed it.. 34 years old, his legs have gone, and god knows how many years its been since he played in the EPL

it'd be a loan move for a couple of months and Henry is training with Arsenal at the moment anyway.

He might not be the player he used to be, but there can be no doubting he'd fit into the club and team with ease, and the manager knows what he's getting. It's not like anyone is thinking he'd play 90 minutes in every game either.

It won't be the signing of the season or anything but it's a long way from 'desperate and sad' too.

"Only by having a full inquiry on such matters can we get to the bottom of it and try to make sure that such problems don't arise again in the future."

A discussion, an apology -- not enough. Only a "full inquiry" would suffice. Then, if necessary, a tribunal and a ban (which indeed Taylor later endorsed.)

1994, when high-profile England player Stuart Pearce was accused of racially abusing Paul Ince. Taylor gives us our pattern. It happened:

"in the heat of the moment...Stuart regrets what he said, and he'll be ringing Paul to apologise. Hopefully that will be the end of it."

On 19 December 2002, after Reading's English defender John Mackie was not only accused of racial abuse, but admitted it, no such "full inquiry" -- or resulting action -- was necessary, according to Taylor:

"Obviously we were very concerned about the comments that were made but it's to John Mackie's credit that he has subsequently reacted in this way and apologised. We would expect Carl Asaba to accept that apology, which was unreserved, and do not feel there is any reason for the FA to take any action in this case."

well if its not either desperate or sad, why on earth doesn't he dip his hand in to his pocket and by someone who could no doubt solve the scoring problems? apart from the 1 man show that is R.V.P

just because he's a legend at the club, doesn't then mean he will go and score goal's on a regular basis,

just because he will fit in well, doesn't mean he will score goal on a regular basis either.

he is well passed his best, even if he is fully fit he would be well off the pace, and he's standard would of drooped considerably.

the only good thing i could imagine happening is, the players getting a lift from him being on the pitch, but if he's not scoring and getting made a fool of e.g by getting picked off easily by defenders, then it might do more harm than good.

To be fair there are few people in football who aren't guilty of hypocricy. You wouldn't have to look too hard to find examples of hypocrisy from saf or kenny and most of the people who have made their judgement on the Suarez for tribal reasons are hypocrites as if the situation was reversed they would have the opposite opinions.

Equally United fans seem to be defending anyone they can just so they can mercifully condemn Suarez. Taylor's a twat, was just pointing out. Thought most people agreed. The hypocrisy by some in the game in their reactions to Suarez's ambiguous case and the cases of other, English players with previous incidents is an amazing piece of irony. Taylor is a weak bellend who loves a good bandwagon. With Taylor being the man who condemned Blatter most strongly, is it any wonder there are some who see this unprecedented 8 game ban for racism as a bit of willy waving to FIFA? It might well not be, but people like Taylor don't help the case of the good fight against racism.

Although to be fair it's not just him, there's also the media. Go look at the articles written about John Terry today. Compare how Oliver Holt (Terry's ghost writer...) treated the Terry/Suarez cases... Heroic JT, fighting on despite the case against him. Luis Suarez labelled 'RACIST' by the Mirror. Not that Evra or the FA said he was, but you know why let facts get in the way?

This case has shown a lot of people up to be bellends, and as much as you will try and ignore, a fair share have been on Evra, United and the FA's side.

Yup true, but Gordon taylor's job puts him a neutral role. To be honest I'm mainly attacking his hypocrisy particularly because I've always thought he was fairly inept. Just a good chance to nail him ;D

It's actually a very reasonable request, even tho you and I know he's having a dig by asking it.

There are many words that are acceptable or not depending on context - and the taken context can never be fully in the speaker's control.

Given that with Suarez he's saying that he used a particular word in a harmless manner (and surely everyone can accept that 'negro' can be used in an acceptable way [which this very question gets to prove ], even if they can't accept that Suarez was in this instance?) but it's been deemed as unacceptable, it gets to show that the same situation can arise around a number of other words.

If footballers are to be denied the right to use particular words on the field (because there's always the risk that the word's use can be misunderstood) via an FA rule, then surely the FA should be able to say which words the rule applies to?

Its funny I had today down as nearly all home wins and I think there was only one. A couple of observations from today.

1. Is there a worse premier league player than colin salmon, everytime I have seen him this season I have thought he is a championship/league 1 player.

2. Is it annoying for the likes of liverpool and chelsea fans to see newcastle have bought demba ba for peanuts when you look at the amount they have spent on duds. Also have stoke city fired the doctor who failed his medical.Ba, jerome or crouch, thats a tough one!

3. I wonder if luakaka has regrets joining chelsea, he has basically thrown away 6 months of his career at a crucial time. I get the impression chelsea bought him with the plan to loan him straight away but didnt read the regulations properly.

Also think liverpool are getting a bit too much stick. They may have clear flaws but they are within touching distance of both arsenal and chelsea who are also dropping silly points. When you look at the fact that liverpool have to play cheslea and arsenal at home they are stil in a strong position. I would say in terms of the quality of the squad their points total is about par.

It's been frustrating but this time last year we were 14 points behind Arsenal (albeit with a game in hand) and god knows what behind Chelsea. We've improved, no doubt about that. Would like some fucking goals mind!
