Sunderland have reinforced; goals from midfield with Gardner, setpieces with Larsson and Sessegnon looks alright. Just whether Wickham and Ji settle enough to provide adequate support/backup for Gyan. Be interesting who the regular goalkeeper's going to be too; whether Westwood will take over. Last year they fell apart with injuries, but at least have numbers now that I wouldn't envisage such a collapse.

I think barca have done well and won the negotiation with arsenal regarding fabregas. Im surprised arsenal caved in but it looks like they felt it was worth losing a bit of money to stop it dragging on. Still amazing that arsenal have got less money for a proven premiership, champions league player with a winning assist in a world cup final, than newcastle recieved for a forward on the basis of half a season in the premiership.

Hmmm, good point, the seeming battle for 4th could be the most interesting thing this season, I've got a feeling Arsenal will be alright, with Wilshire getting better and Ramsey perhaps stepping up to fill those holes and leave them at least well clear of LFC and Spurs again.

If Arsenal do fall back, I reckon Everton are in with a slim shot of 4th, I don't reckon we're much worse than LFC or Spurs 9then again, I wouldn't), if we have a bit of luck with injuries and don't have a shit start, we will be there or there abouts

Spurs need a forward, and Modric to remain motivated, but if so can't be written off either. Freidel more reliable than Gomez, and will be interesting if Walker has his breakthrough season for them at RB.

It does look a bit grim for you, but Wenger MUST have something lined up seen as hes known they are both likely to be going for quite a while now. If he dosent have something in place, it could and should be the end of Wenger.

i saw on a tv newspaper review that one of the papers (I forget which) says this morning that they've signed a midfielder (I forget the name) for £10M .... so it looks like stuff was being lined up before they'd sell.

I think peoples expectations of suarez may be a little too high this season. He has had 2 consecutive summers playing competition football, where his team has been involved in the final couple of days of the tournament. It would be understandable if he is shattered.

Ive been really been disappointed with Redknapp in the pre-season, I know its not easy to bring in players but what hes done so is, well nothing really. We have alot of deadwood to clear, Keane, Jenas, Bassong, Bentley, Krancjar, Palacios and on and on, and if we are going to challenge for a champions league place we need a quality striker. As it stands, I think we are going o struggle for goals unless we really on our midfield to get them.

He had loads of time off in the middle of last season after biting someone.

:lol::lol::lol:

He really is a cheating little f**ker isn't he? Why, with those skills???

I was thinking just last night that I'm surprised that Arsenal hadn't picked him up at some point, cos he's just their type of player. But perhaps his cheating is why.

Not that Arsenal cheat... ;)

well of course they do, all teams have players that do.

But while they've had players who haven't been scared to dive on occasions (and which includes some high-profile examples), it's still a different thing to sign a player who's got a bad reputation for regular cheating.

Having said that, I don't know what Suarez's rep was for cheating aside from at last summer's world cup, so perhaps I'm well of the mark thinking that it's possible that Arsenal were put off signing him because of a bad rep.

All the same he defo looks like the sort of player Arsenal go for, so I'm still sort of surprised that Arsenal hadn't picked him up somewhere along the way.

As for Enrique, I think that's a very good signing, especially if it is around £6m. In the PL I'd say only Baines, Cole and Evra are definitely ahead of him for quality and none of those are realistically attainable.

I think most Arsenal fans can understand why the Cesc thing has dragged on so long, Barca have been deliberately sodding us about over it. As far as they're concerned they knew he wasn't going to go anywhere else so why rush to sign him and pay his wages before the season starts?

Our stance on Nasri though has been stupid. We should have shipped him out the second they realised he wasn't going to sign a new contract. Now were one day from the new season and have no time to bring someone in and integrate them into the side. Whether it was the board or Wenger that has been the problem I don't know, but either way it's been handled dreadfully.

Anyway I hope they both enjoy warming the benches next season as I can't see either featuring most weeks. That's the part I find most annoying with Nasri, yes I agree that he probably has a better chance of silverwear at city, but just how much will he be involved? He certainly won't be winning the ballon dor (his stated aim) from the subs bench.

Isnt that statement based purely on one season though? In an individual season some players overperform, others underperform, some are injured. You also have a situation where last season followed a world cup and there was a clear pattern of players who didnt go to the world cup performing better than those who did in the premiership. If Enrique is hailed as the 4th best left back on the basis of 1 premiershjip season then the argument could also be made that DJ Campbell is one of the best strikers in the premiership. I am in agreement he seems a solid signing, but I think reading huge amounts in to a player on the basis of 1 season can be very risky and many clubs have had their fingers burned doing similar things.

    • It's even less funny when in real life too...   Liddle met Rachel Royce and the couple soon became romantically involved.[84] In January 2004 the couple married at a ceremony in Malaysia. They had been living in Heytesbury, Wiltshire, and had two sons together. Six months later, Liddle moved in with Alicia Monckton, a 22-year-old receptionist at The Spectator. It transpired that he had cut short his honeymoon with Royce so that he could be with Monckton. Following their divorce, Liddle and Royce exchanged attacks in the media. Liddle called her a "total slut and slattern"
