Loved it every other year, but this year thought it was not up to standard. Too many silly rumours - and yes agreed, fed up with sitting in queues on Monday hearing endless drivel about 'Steve Satan' (?) - where were the highlights etc to bring back the memories

Reception was dreadful too - or maybe I just need a new radio !!!!

Though the music this year was poor too - I'd hyped up Worthy Fm as well to the Virgins who came with us, and one of the highlights is driving in and suddenly getting a good reception - you know you're home when you can tune into Worthy FM !!!

Bring back Radio Avalon!

The problem is that this station nowadays seems to almost exclusively be staffed by tubby, southern, white, middle class wan*ers. Sorry, but that is the impression I get. No diversity at all. The presenters think they are funny and approach the job as a preparation for fulfilling their ultimate dream of becoming an "hilarious regional commercial radio personality"

It wasn't always like this.

Listened to it Tuesday night for 20 mins...complete waste of time, switched back to Radio 2 and 6. Tried it again on Wednesday morning, its just so poor, info is usless, very amateurish, gave up after half hour...It needs a total revamp, get some better presenters on it, or drop it compeltely

Didn't listen to it as don't generally listen to radio that much when not in the car and got annoyed by the presenters of music radio stations anyway.

However, a thought - could you get someone to blag a lift in what ever helicopter's up at the time. Could be interesting for real 'live' (pedestrian) traffic reports, American style... ie "awful lot of people heading to wu-tang clan from the market side, might be best to wait 10 minutes or go around the other way. Of course, who would actually be listening to this is another matter.

Some great ideas here, and some really useful feedback too. I wouldn't agree with some of the descriptions of the station, but then again I know the team, so it's interesting to hear how we come across just through our voices! Without going into the presenters' personal lives too much, I can 100% assure people that we're not all middle class southern men looking for a break in radio. In fact, I can only think of one presenter who might fit that bill, and he's already got his break in radio anyway. Very interesting if that's how we come across tho.

News this year was tricky, as the person who's done our news for years and has built up contacts all over the site and beyond couldn't make it at the last minute, so it had to be picked up by someone else. Shame, but might explain why some people think news wasn't what it could have been this year. She's been told she's not allowed to miss 2013 now!

The Steve Satan thing was an off air joke that was meant to be going on just down in the interstage area. Didn't realise it had been so picked up on air the whole time as well, will definitely pass it back that it shouldn't have been. Likewise some of the 'rumours that weren't rumours' things.

I guess the main problem then is whether you want us to sound slick and professional or onsite and amateurish (in a good way). Perhaps news needs to sound more professional and presenters less so?

I listened on my way to site and found it a bit cringeworthy. The 10 made up facts about the headliners really wasn't funny at all and just made me want to turn off. It's shame as I normally get really excited listening to Worthy FM but this year I just wanted to turn over.

My advise would be more music and less pointless unfunny chat. Keep links to a minimum and try and base it on a more informal less polished approach. I'd also only have presenters on that have been to Glasto numerous times before.

I didn't actually listen to Worthy Fm this year, my mate took a stereo..and then they got me to bring my iPod which seemed to take over. They wanted to listen to what they wanted to rather than a radio station.

Ho Hum.

But if I was working on Worthy FM, maybe have a "roving reporter" going into the campsites for vox pops, you know sort of "I'm with Dave and his mates from Manchester..." What bands they want to see, where they are camped, anything funny happen so far, hows the camping going, have you been to the festival before etc etc.

The woman reading out the News in the morning was hilariously amateurish. It was like she had only just learnt to read and even then didn't have a full understanding of punctuation. I demand she is back in 2013 so I can continue to try and make out what the news is through her barely comprehensible ramblings!

Thinking about it in a way, we had a problem with news on the way in and way out this year, in as much as there wasn't any. Traffic was largely fine, car parks no real problems, and the usual campsites filled up in the usual order at the usual times. Hard to make interesting news out of nothing.

I listened for 3 hrs tues afternoon,3 hrs wed afternoon, not very interesting.I wanted build up,to get me excited, but just got six hours of the presenters talkin rubbish to young children.(who sounded more intelligent). Then thur morning coming on site i wanted updates of all descriptions, mud, que, rain, what had gone on,what was happening etc.i got none of that......... I get up early at the fest bout 7 ish and my mates 12 ish

thinking if theres anythings happening with the festival the horses mouth would know .......but alas no ....what was the point of all the nonsense rumers both joke(tiresome) and reported real you just wasted peoples time ...the club dada 1 at 2am sat was the 1 i fell for.A couple of hundred people in the tent.I asked around 30 of em why they were there and who 4 ... all with different answers but that worthy fm was the source ....waste of time when 4 monks came out playin s**t tunes.............. cheers worthy fm

Most of the presenters just came across as spoilt brat, jingoist talkin, trying o so hard to be to cool, media students with no real Opinion on anything...... people with relatives with connections who facilitated there mind numbing babbling into my ears.........

The fellaS in the morning were the biggest ejits. they talked rubbish at Andrew Collins on 6muic(who you could tell he thought like wise)he kept sayin he had lots of lamb 4 breakfast.. every f ing sentence he would use an exergated way of sayin the word "JOLLY" like he invented the word.. and it was the answer to every thing....yes u2 they were jolly coldplay jolly plan b,jolly. his first shag Probably f ing JOLLY...what a moron,he hadn't got a clue ..his sound a like mate the following morning wasn't any better.....played a kaiser chiefs b side ...said the radiohead thing was sh** and was too up his own arse to c u2 or anything on the pyramid .... he also played miss Dynamite tee ie twice within 15 mins and 5 times in that 4 hour period.... Jesus

i don't care if its Professional or Amateur.just good ......................

to use a Cliché,i could have done better.i love radio....with the people you get at Glastonbury you could have done amazing phone ins....the late night ones could be hilarious more out and about reporting.A goldmine waiting to be tapped......rant over.... peas and lov

 You sure about that? Granted a lot of people wouldn't have had radios in the queue to get in, but we had our worst nightmare since I started going to get in. Over 1 1/2 hrs to get in the car park, then nearly 3 hours to get through the gates.

A mate of mine arrived Thursday evening and took 3 hours to get into the car park (although they sailed straight in once they had done that)

Yep, worst year yet for Worthy FM with regards to losing the "just thrown together feel" although the tunes were still pretty good throughout. One of the most annoying things I kept hearing was the stupid John Hurt voicealike going on about eating scotch eggs and it not ending well.

Well, there we go then, another reason feedback is useful. All I was told was that traffic was generally fine, but i suppose what's fine to the people running the traffic and what's fine for people sitting in it are two different things. Will add to the feedback list though, perhaps queueing times from different directions might be of use?

Don't hold back man, say what you really think! :D

Can't agree with all of that, not least because it wouldn't be possible to play a song that often, individual shows are three hours max, and the idea that people get into Worthy FM through relatives with connections is comedy.

That said, I suppose our two kids presenters did get in by having parents on the crew, but they were 9 and 10, so I don't think it's them you're referring to.

    • Mac DeMarco also cancelled
    • I'm British so it very much would apply for me.   I mean, it's a moot point as I don't have tickets so will not be in town for this, but I've heard reports of lengthy queues and given I remember Lisbon Airport having a long queue at arrivals even pre-EES when I went in 2023, I seem to guess it might be quite the wait, depending on flight paths.   Certainly, the worst I've had pre-EES was a 45 minute wait for a stamp at Valencia Airport in Spain, where 4 flights to non-EU destinations in quick succession were placed one after the other. So I can't say I'm enthusiastic about what's in store. Or you know. Maybe I'm just overthinking it.
