Really can't believe the number of negative threads on the boards just now, so thanks to this ray of sunshine on a grey glastonbury board !

The two days of really muddy conditions didnt spoil any of the festival for me, just took longer to get around and some special performances by The Vaccines, Bright eyes, U2, Elbow, really stand out.

Sunday was a magical day for me, The ground drying out inspired me to explore more as the it was so much easier to get around. I had a wonderful couple of hours in the healing fields and green fields, what alovely atmosphere there was! then probably my biggest surprise of the weekend.

Laura Marling in the Sun on the Sunday was about my most perfect Glastonbury moment this year she was simply sensational!!

Paul Simon, then the Vaccines again. and a wander round the site again finishing up with Suzanne Vega , Sunday was a dream day for me.

I loved Glastonbury 2011, Wasn't perfect but it never will be, just would rather talk about the great things than focus so!! much on the negatives

The King Blues were far and away my favourite performance, so much energy from the band and the audience!

I agree with this as well. They have become part of the Glastonbury weekend for me.

So many great moments from Laura Marling to Elbow, Graham Coxon, Radiohead, James Blake and loads loads more.

But most of all what I will remember this year for is the really warm and happy vibe around the place. I lost count of how many quick chats I swapped with strangers as well as a few longer ones too and they all seemed to be having as good a time as me. Sure it was wet and squelchy for a bit but even that got people pulling together. I'm so sorry if some missed out or didn't experience this or suffered some misfortune but for me, I feel very lucky to be able to say that it was superb. How many days till the magic wednesday in 2013??

My favourites this year were, in no particular order

U2

Deacon Blue

Pulp

BAD

BB King

Vaccines

Visited the Caberet tent/area a lot more than I have in the past so so some good stuff there including Atilla the Stockbroker, Jeremy Hardy. But the thing in this area I enjoyed the most was the Raymond & Mr Timpkins Revue on the Sensations stage

In order I guess....

Being formally introduced to Two Door Cinema Club

Getting to front barrier for Wu Tang and BB King. The latter of which was a true experience :)

Jimmy Cliff and his crowd bringing the proverbial sunshine to a gloomy day. Nothing but love and happiness there.

The Twilight Singers breaking in to Teenage Wristband, Dulli shouting "here comes the sun y'all", and the clouds parting to reveal the glorious sunshine that decided to stick around :D

Finally managing to find the comedy tent, in time to see Mark Thomas. Incredible.

Noah & The Whale feeling like they'd really made it.

Battles doing the best pure music set of the entire weekend.

Finding this old rock n roll underworld bar with a wishing tree in the middle. Drunk and dancing there was lovely.

Getting high and watching TV On The Radio. Wolf Like Me was one of THE songs of this festival.

Eels putting on THE best and most entertaining set of the entire weekend.

and finally... Getting stones lying outside the tent, looking at the stars, sky lanterns, and listening to all the people ending their festival on a bang. Was so chilled out, and peaceful. Great way to finish the festival. Beautiful night =]

Regrets

Missing both Primal Scream and DJ Shadow to watch Bono w*nk himself in public for 2 hours. Worst thing i've ever seen. I've never been so angry during a gig. Fake, half-arsed and pathetic.

The special guests slots need to go. Pointless waste of time.

Coldplay fans.

The queuing system was really unorganised, and the crowds were being rude and obnoxious the entire time. If they feel the need to keep it, then it really needs to be worked upon for 2013.

As always the pluses always outweigh the negatives :D

The power of the letter J won it for me - Jarvis Cocker, Josh Homme, Jim Jones, Joy Formidable and cans of Jim Beam and Coke!

  • Being repeatedly complimented on my false eyelashes, by all sorts of people. Dreadful attention-seeking on my part, but I think I cheered people up.

  • The revelation that was The Joy Formidable.

  • Making it til sunrise at the Stone Circle - for the first time in 16 years attending Glasto

  • Where The Streets Have No Name - to my astonishment

  • Beyonce's entrance. And Beyonce's obviously genuine delight at being there.

  • Pulp

  • Girls with wellys, shorts and mud splattered thighs.

  • Cider. It only tastes this good in Somerset.

  • Various delicious foodstuffs.

  • Being genuinely surprised at how full-on NYC Downlow is.

  • Biggles Wartime Band, despite having heard all the jokes last year.

  • Wellyhenge

Many more joys that I need reminding of, I'm sure.

Discovering Bourbon is a worthy replacement to more illegal indulgences(!)

The Common - found it a bit too late for my liking but crammed as much as I could in on the Sunday.

The Tomatina in the Bullring - all time Glasto Highlight I have to say!

The giant bed in the Lost Cinema.

The Wall of Death - NEVER had such a thrill in all my life!

Free phone charging all weekend. (Thank you Mark and the Flashing T Shirt Company).

Free ale all weekend - its amazing what dressing up as a pirate wench and propping up the bar waving a tankard demanding grog can do for a girl!

Being in the same room as Prof Brian Cox - he did very well not to call Billy Bragg a nobber!

Shappi Korsandi nearly making me cry when she likened the G to a refugee camp where we pay and choose to live this way when millions have no choice!

Totally getting down to Rastamouse in the Kidz Field. 'The rhythym is cool and the weather is Hot Hot Hot, The sun will shine on me, We're having some fun when the weather is Hot Hot Hot, Get up and move your feet.' Irie man!!! The sun was most certainly out after this show!!! B)

Discovering that Rastamouse had taken over the Reggae shack in SL!

Spending every evening playing at being Sir David Attenborough identifying the various animals and creatures on people's heads and rutting with fellow zebras in the vicinity! Never DID find a badger though :(

Jimmy Cliff 'I Can See Clearly Now'...in the pouring rain, whilst nomming on one of Clara's Jerk Chicken wraps, with extra hot sauce and a Lemon Brothers! Yaaas...get in!

NOT feeling sad as I left site on Monday morning. And by going home via the Hill of Death, got to witness that stunning view for the last time for a couple of years. I need a break!

My second glasto and it was an absolute stormer! Went plenty prepared for the rain and as such it didn't really affect me too much except on the friday night.

Wednesday highlights:

The look on my glasto-virgin mates faces when we took them up to the top of the viewing area and showed them the view.

Drinking cider in the avalon inn, then one of the workers there deciding the stairs were getting too slippery and were now unsafe......so he got a chainsaw out and cut grippy bits into all the steps in the middle of a crowded bar! Totally irresponsible but fantasticly good fun to watch :)

Goan fish curry

Thursday highlights:

Hanging out in the park

Eating my first growler, and spending the next few hours making "growler" jokes

Checking out the green fields and quietly laughing at all the crazy people there. Signing my mate up for a wand-making workshop.

Mr B the Gentleman Rhymer on the croissant neuf stage, was absolutly rammed but soon the security turned up and moved everyone back a bit.

Friday highlights:

Two door cinema club, can always be relied on to pull a good set and i always appreciate a band that truly loves glasto and feels honoured to play there above all other places.

BB king, one of the last remaining oldschool blues legends and he did not disappoint, absolutly killed it and was such an endearing character. Nobody in the crowd around me seemed to give a damn that it was raining.

Went up to the park to see Radiohead and was thouroughly disappointed, a self-indulgent set and a beliggerent crowd. This was the worst part of the weekend for me, couldn't see the band got soaked even through my waterproofs, wrenched my ankle trying to get through the mud and was freezing cold.

Because of this i decided to skip the headliners and had a FAR better time sitting in a warm and dry circus tent for 3 hours watching some brilliant entertainment.

Went to bed early cos my legs were so tired from walking through the mud.

Saturday highlights:

Infinite monkey cage, hilarious sciency banter, was amazed at how many people were trying to get in though.

Brandt Bauer Frick Ensemble, absolutly killed it, got applause for ages, truly unique set.

Dreadzone, as brilliant as ever.

Sunday highlights:

Sunday WAS the highlight, beautiful day and the best i've ever spent at any festival ever.

Foster the people

The bees

The go! team, danced my ass of with my best mate and got called amazing by the people around us, probly had heatstroke after though.

Circolombia, simply the most incredible circus act i've ever seen, if you didn't see one of their 3 performances then you missed out BIG TIME.

Kool and the Gang, probably the best act of the weekend for me, had a pieminister and a brothers, friendly and active crowd, massive singalongs and not one single d*ckhead.

Then spent until 5am in the south-east corner enjoying the craziness, was the first night where my legs weren't too tired to manage it!

LOVED IT!

Elbow, truly magical, amazing singalongs.

Probably the biggest surprise piece of awesomeness for me this year was the Wall of Death. Never seen one before. It was absolutely great. The place was packed, and I looked around and every single person had a huge grin on their face. I loved it. Afterwards everyone was going on about how fantastic it was.

Other than the obvious (radiohead, pulp, qotsa, chems, shadow) I really enjoyed The Beat Hotel, especially Erol Alkan on Friday night, an incredible set, also Skream doing a disco set last night was a great way to finish the weekend. Plus the burgers they were serving were some of the best I've ever had.

Rev Sharkeys Church of the Holy Rollers on Friday night/Sat Morning. Jamie XX and particularly Evil nine were amazing, one of the best sets of the weekend.

Correspondents were brilliant in the Glade on Sunday.

I had one of the best glastonburys I've had, couldn't have gone much better

Rabbit Hole - didn't bother with the secret nonsense, just danced in there a lot on Thursday and Saturday, really good vibe.

Bar in Bella's field, Ridge and Furrow - bit of a walk from where we were but lovely and chilled.

Park - whole area just gets better every year, lovely atmosphere whatever time we went up there

Always love the Glade - again, always a nice atmosphere

Not going near the dance areas apart from 1 hour on the Thursday night - sounds as if that's where the crushes and mud were worse

Morrissey

QOTSA

Chemical Brothers

Negative - put some bloody beer in the Crow's Nest! It's a long hike up there!

Ninth time and this year was the best. Some highlights....

Melanie at Spirit of 71 on Friday night in the pissing rain. The perfect Glastonbury moment, Trixi's dancing.

Random encounters with lovely people, especially singing Factory Girls after Flogging Molly didn't play it.

Finally getting the Man of Constant Sorrow joke.

Eels 'I used to be a drummer...'

Great band at Fiddlers Green on Thursday night about 3am - and making more new friends.

The breeze

So, so many moments, I am completely in love with Glasto, with all its faults and little issues, I still come home smitten every time :D

Queens of the Stone Age were the best band by far IMO, I adore those guys anyway, but being at the barrier and moshing my head off was the best way to finish off the festival for me :D

Pulp, Eels, Twilight Singers, Primal Scream, all fantastic, love love love it :D

Away from the music, I always adore the green fields, the Wall of Death was stunning, Arcadia was cool, first time in my 3 years of Glasto that I've finally managed to see one of their shows. The installations in the Unfairground were fantastic, I especially liked the mirrored car, that must have taken a lot of work.

I visited the Medecins Sans Frontiers tent and told them how much I admire their work and they told me a few really interesting things about how they work to make sure that political issues don't affect their work, including making sure that no more than 5% of their funding comes from governments, and if they are working in a country who hate another country, for instance if the US government donate money, it isn't used in a country where the US are hated. Their inflatable hospitals are bloody awesome!

Finally, spending some proper quality time with my mates, our posh frock afternoon on Thursday at the Park, along with our four Care Bears, top notch :D

Wednesday:

-Chatting to randomers at the top of the Park lounging area and having our breath taken away by the views again (The vastness of the site never ceases to amaze me...),

- A bongo sesh at the bottom of the Stone Circle that a topless bloke threw himself into full force and was gradually joined by other half naked people and then the masses, this was then followed by an en-mass bagpipes dance sesh. If anyone has a vid/photos of this I'd really appreciate a copy, as it was one of my highlights. SO random.

- The fireworks and pyrotechnics were also a nice start to the fest.

Thursday:

- Playing with all the circus stuff in Avalon,

- Being involved in Giant Twister,

- Buying my elephant hat :D,

- Being joined by the very random 'Alex' up on the Stone Circle for the evening was lovely, hearing all his past experiences of the fest and sharing a few of our own (though I don't feel he will have retained the information that well :P)

Friday:

- Not as many here, unfortunately... really enjoyed our traditional trip to daemon or doppelganger though!

Saturday:

- Gaslight Anthem, particularly their tribute to Clarence,

- Watching a mud fight ensue from the fab 'internal monologue' walkabout act in Glebeland before we realised it was him and thought it was just a hammered old bloke lol.

- Elbow were great, wasn't a massive fan going in to it, but what a great performance! Guy was hilarious!

- The entirety of Coldplay's encore (especially 'Wonderful World'), and the lighting up of the Pyramid stage- so nice in it's novelty.

Sunday:

- Marcus Brigstocke dressed in bizarre attire,

- WALL OF DEATH! *Amazing*,

- Mik Artistik at the Rabbit Hole, always a joy!

- Destroying the Sandalism creation at 4pm,

- Stumbling across two random rappers with full on equipment up at the stone Circle after watching the sun set,

- The Kareoke place in Shangri La was particularly good- wish we'd stayed in there longer but there was much to see!,

- The old games machines room in Shangri La,

- *Finally* getting into some of the venues in Shangri La (most notably slumbarave which has been on our 'to do list' for the last couple of years)

- Cheering in the last sunrise for two years (*sniff*),

Regrets:

- Not managing to spend more time in the Green Fields and Bella's field (usually my fave part of the fest!),

- Not stumbling upon as much randomness as last year,

- Not getting involved in a craft workshop.

BUT so happy that there is still so much left to see and do in 2013!

    • It's a smart move because week after we have 5 fests: Download, Nova Rock, Greenfield, Mystic, Sweden Rock
    • Oh I 100% agree and I'm questioning a lot.
    • That would be a day ticket for Friday going based on that. In 2027 that would suck for me lol.
    • And it's been moved forward a week, same weekend as RaR
