Deary me.

FM - Pretty much ruled out yesterday

Roses - As said above

Adele - As said above

Paul McCartney - Where did that come from?

Blur - 2009

Daft Punk - I'd like to be proved wrong!

Muse - 2010

Bowie - Ruled out yesterday

Kings of Leon - Would go against the 'no more than three dates' rule

Nearly half of their 'predicted acts' are ruled out or extremely unlikely in some way, good journalism right there! Makes the NME seem reliable!

I don't know where all this has come from

but there are hundreds of tweets claiming gaga has been booked to headline glastonbury.

Could you look into it neil?

there have been approaches made to lots of acts over recent weeks. That's not a surprise, as Glastonbury have said they only have one headliner booked.

I've long been on the case with an awful lot of things. :)

I'm sure it's been asked but is it usually this difficult for Glastonbury to secure the acts it wants or are they finding it harder this year? Just wonder if for some, the draw of playing isn't as big as it was?

I don't think they're finding it any harder this year than they have in some other years. They didn't approach Stevie Wonder until about this time of year for the year he played, for example.

Fair enough. I knew Stevie was a late-ish booking but thought that was because of another 'target' finally declining to play. Maybe it's just that I'm spending more too much time on here than in previous years and believing too much of the speculation but......... it just feels like no-one wants to play this year! :D

I think the thing is that a lot of people on here are using words like "disaster" and "all up in the air" etc. when really, very few people have a clue when headliners have been booked in the past. This therefore creates a state ofpanic and spreads which makes people think Glastonbury is going to do a Sonisphere.

Just be pleased we don't have Kiss headlining.

Neil, do you know if Sigur Ros have officially ruled themselves out? I know that on an internet forum they were asked the question to which the answer was a blunt NO. But given secrecy etc and a hole for Saturday in their dates we were all hoping they might appear after a 10 year gap.

see the reply I've just given you in the Sigur Ros thread.

But they have officially ruled themselves out, that much is clear.

Yeh this is true, and i agree :) but i am just sad that a group i have just gotten into, who i think would be great too see live might not play, and i've missed the chance to see them locally and will have to pay over the odds if i want too, that's life i suppose :(, still we live in hope.

I did know my friend but even if they were 'disappointed' with it, I don't see how even on their game it would have made much difference. OK they could have been musically tighter, more interactive with the crowd etc but still, I don't think their music translates to a big stage.

In my dreams I imagined them playing somewhere like The Park and 1000 people are sitting watching them, and there's all these beautiful lights everywhere and their wonderful chimes filled every inch of air around me. But in reality they're too big for that and simply they're too quiet to play to such a large audience.

As much as some of you are really going to disagree I really think people like Snow Patrol, Dizzee Rascal and Kasabian are in with a shot at headlining this year.

We know that various acts have been asked and said no, which means the pool of possible acts is getting smaller and for me, the 3 above are smaller Uk based acts in with a shout.

    • Have a great festival to those that are going, I cant wait to get there tomorrow!
    • ah i get ya.. Yeah I hate festivals that have that barrier and front section. Roskilde is gonna be the same, which I'm not looking forward to navigating. Like you say, you end up missing other stuff having to get there dead early. Luckily there's not much we're arsed about on at Roskilde though so that wont be such an issue! hahaha
    • Not directly my expectation but my wishlist   - car seat headrest (it has been way too long these guys did Europe) - death cab for cutie - new constellations - interpol - bush - swimschool - suede - the haunted youth (should have been there this year) - flipturn   and oh yes Yumi Zouma can come any week, day, hour but this is a personal fetish with this band

    • Broco have European dates in Czechia and Slovenia the day before and after so I would be shocked if it were them, despite them having no other UK festival presence this summer.   Bilmuri are a shout as I don't think it'll be someone massive.
