The one thing I would say is that Sonisphere being a touring festival doesn't really seem to be working out the way I thought it would from a UK perspective?

I thought it would attract bands to sign up and play the majority of 'Sonisphere festivals' around Europe including the UK which would involve a decent fee being paid to attract top bands but this certainly does not seem the case with Metallica seemingly playing nearly every other Sonisphere across Europe apart from playing the UK one, leaving the UK one isolated and vulnerable?

I hate to burst everyone's bubbles but I cannot see Sonisphere announcing until near the end of the February. I read some where that Sonisphere wasn't ready to announce until march time because lack of funds available to them.

I wouldn't be surprised if they got announced for Download or Sonisphere because they have earnt it. Whoever was at Sonisphere last year and decided Mastodon wasn't good they were sadly mistaken.

If that was the original line up then why did they not say Faith No More etc with the other leak (since they claim it's from a press release must be same source) unless this is new info in which case why the fuck wouldn't Soni just release the line up now if they are telling people?

If it is genuine info, then it might be the case that the band have agreed to play but the contracts aren't done yet. That would be a reason why the line-up might not be announced yet.

But is it genuine? I think it's probably not, as I've heard that Green Day are next in the UK for arena shows from September (tho I can't guarantee that's accurate; or it mighht have been accurate, but now they're going to do Soni too).

As for the info they have (or might not!) coming from "pulled press releases", I don't believe that for a minute.

I don't buy into it being real but I'm thinking (based on this if it was real) the new info the person has must be from another new press release hence otherwise why wouldn't they have said Manson & Faith No More last time and if it was a new press release surely they would be more noise about an announcement coming.

I'm 99.9%+ sure that no press release has ever gone out from Soni with bands for this year.

If it has, then I don't believe it's gone out to more than one publication, and a publication witgh a veeerrrrryyyy long time between going to press and hitting the shelves. But that's HUGELY unlikely.

I've got solid reasons based on solid info for why I believe that.

Sonisphere France announcement this Friday, it's the same weekend as the UK one and generally shares headliners. So I expect a UK one then too.

The Offspring are announcing some festivals in the next few days too, 2+2=4 and all that.

    • Best of all is to get the tram, then call a taxi for very short not-rip-off ride once in the centre.
    • Would you decide to go once more I recommend to queu up at the ‘official’ freenow taxi line ( 5 min walk from the main gate). It might take 15 min or so but they are not ripping you off. Even at 3 or 4 in the night it costed us about 25eur to the city center.
    • How do you mean? Better as a hotel/ festival combo?   I've done rock am ring at both sites.....unpopular opinion I much preferred the mending site and really didn't like the long and narrow main stage at RaR.
    • Yesterday was another brilliant day of music for me. Some highlights:  My Bloody Valentine - absolutely loved it! Maybe my main festival highlight. I felt submerged in the music with all the layers and distortion. It becomes hypnotic almost as it progresses. Not as loud as some thought it might be, but it didn’t need to be. The visuals added a lot too. During the noise part of You Made me Realise, I was basically in a trance staring at the visual tunnel or whatever it was on screen. Amazing experience. Little Simz - as she mentioned at the start, you’re guaranteed a good time with her. Great performance just like in 2022. Zero complaints. The little DJ section wasn't something I expected but was cool. Kneecap - I had a blast but at this point in the night I was at my most intoxicated let's say, so I don’t remember it as clearly as I'd have liked to!    The xx - The sound for this was perfectly balanced (at least where I was) and the band were great. Lots of talkers, but with the crowd size and being kind of far back, it's to be expected. Intro was one of my favourite moments this year. Big Thief - really good live performers. The lead singer has a lovely voice. This was a nice chill way to kick off the mordor gigs for me.
    • I've been attending Primavera every year since my first one in 2017 & it's always been my favourite week of the year, but I think things have changed.   Firstly, the site just feels too busy in this current set-up. I'm sure it was a lot easier back in 2017-19 to get between the stages & then a good spot for the next one, but now you increasingly have to sacrifice parts of a set or miss them out completely to plan for later on. I wish we still had the Bits area over the bridge to spread everyone out.   But the main issue is the talking, it's always been here but this year it's been relentless & I just can't tolerate it any more. It's at every stage, and everywhere from the front to the back, there is no escape. Not focusing on nationalities, but a major dynamic now seems to be groups of people who are only focusing on their own good time & aren't interested if this affects anyone else. It seems essential that all members of the group are together at the same time, so it's people making telephone calls, people on shoulders waving phone torches, people barging through. It's alright, I'm only trying to watch The Cure here.   I will have a year away to think about it. I thought might give up completely but yesterday was a bit of a classic day after two unenjoyable ones. Adding Olivia Rodrigo to Baxter Dury, Gelli Haha, The XX, Gorillaz & Kneecap shows how good it can be, but as with everything, it's always the people that have the biggest impact.
