First time I have been able to get on here today. Glad to see lots of people here are interested in joining in with the efest 'Old Gits Meet'. :)

I was expecting about half a dozen would 'sign up' tbh lol ;)

I think though as the majority favour it the OGM should take place on the Thursday - this means there is likely to more things open which gives a wider choice of things to do...

I do not have anything firm fixed yet as to best locations to head for so any good suggestions would be welcomed also any ideas for some kind of badge we can wear would be good too! - Victor Meldrew faces maybe ;)

I want us all to have another good time and a laugh so the more the merrier and let's have a few ideas fellow 'Gits and Hags' B)

Personally I would like to keep it simple with a few key places to visit over the evening would be ideal so we don't loose people across the site (as has happened in previous years)

Somewhere which has some token 'Oldie' link would be fine so long as there are good opportunities to dance about and let our hair down at some stage. :)

We could also include somewhere quieter in the Greenfields as a respite at some stage in the evening - just a thought.

Let me know what you think please.

Many Thanks

Dave

PS It goes without saying that NO miserable old gits need show up btw :P

That reminds me. I was watching a Zappa concert on Sky Arts the other night with my eldest - 12 years old.

After laughing at two or three songs he muttered the immortal lines "I'm confused. I'm going to bed."

Has anyone got any ideas as to places we could visit during the Thursday evening as I am totally open for suggestions?

I will probably invest in a Victor Meldrew mask as a kind of badge for the evening - other 'Old Git/Hag' masks for participants may be a fun idea - what do you all think?

How about 'The Rabbit Hole' as a final destination?

""We stumbled on this secret club......... A giant White Rabbit was in charge and The Mad Hatter was the doorman handing out carrots... The entrance to the tunnel was … (SECRET DETAILS DELETED).This was the ACTUAL Rabbit Hole! To enter Wonderland you had to answer a Lewis Carrol riddle, get given a carrot, then get on your hands and knees and crawl through a winding tunnel lit with fairy lights. You eventually emerge into a club, with a raised underlit dancefloor, DJ booth, toadstools. Once inside we were greeted by Alice and the Queen of Hearts who presided over an entourage of lunatics in a psychedelic Funkingham Palace. We stayed there far, far too long...... aiming to head there again this year!!""

On the other hand may not be feasible with a large group of people - back to the drawing board then...

Any more people fancy joining in by the way - should be a fun evening! B)

Hopefully the weather will be kind for us too. :)

The Snake Pit is in the Alleyways of Shangri La.

Dada is down the way. Its not definite yet we will be in the Snake Pit but it is looking fairly likely. And whilst not everyone will be in there all evening due to the opportunities outside the door to go bouncing around in what is open at SL, I expect there will be a crew in there for a fair duration. And probably quite squiffy and hopefully dancing to Gaga! :D

    • World Cup 2026: What is happening with ticket prices? - BBC Sport   Sounds like Infantino has been learning from his buddy if he's running around claiming its all sold out while quietly dumping tickets below face on assorted secondary websites.
    • Mac DeMarco also cancelled
    • I'm British so it very much would apply for me.   I mean, it's a moot point as I don't have tickets so will not be in town for this, but I've heard reports of lengthy queues and given I remember Lisbon Airport having a long queue at arrivals even pre-EES when I went in 2023, I seem to guess it might be quite the wait, depending on flight paths.   Certainly, the worst I've had pre-EES was a 45 minute wait for a stamp at Valencia Airport in Spain, where 4 flights to non-EU destinations in quick succession were placed one after the other. So I can't say I'm enthusiastic about what's in store. Or you know. Maybe I'm just overthinking it.
    • Out of interest keep seeing messages saying last 12 hours etc… to buy you full weekend tickets.  Whats that about? Do they take them off sale early?
