Fame at last ! lol B)

A reporter at BBC Somerset is reporting from Glasto this year. One of the themes they are looking at is the age range at the festival, so Ithey are very interested to speak to some older people. Partly, it's because Saga reckon 1 in 10 people at Glasto this year will be over 50.

So, they are wondering if me and any of the other people meeting up would be up for doing a couple of very short interviews at the OGM.

Basically, he would just turn up and ask you a few questions for 5 mins and then leave us in peace.

Any others apart from me fancy being interviewed? GH? anoldhippie@60? any other oldies? ;)

Well I think it's fantastic you guys are meeting up. I'm a tad too young at the grand age of 29 for your meet but I hope you guys have a great time. I'll be watching the wrestling. Hopefully we'll all cross paths at some point.:)

Hey... my mask made it here in time. It will be typical of me to forget to pack it now.

Anyway Dave Mac. What's the latest? I've checked the first post to see if you've edited it for a final itinerary and I've scanned through the thread.

A few people will actually B) be leaving home today, can you set a couple of actual time and places where we're going to meet please.

See you all next week

Right everyone I need to make a couple of executive decisions for the Meet.

As we are a large group of people of diverse tastes it will be impossible to cater for everyone's particular evening entertainment requirements alas.

The MOST important thing is for people to come along, have a good time and meet new likeminded friends and leave with some positive memories.

DON'T be shy - come and say hello and join in with the general randomness of the event. B)

I know a number of people coming already who are thoroughly nice people so please don't feel worried/excluded - whatever age you are!

I am hoping lots of photos are taken across the evening - possibly some people will post a few here after we get back from Glasto.,

The intention, for me, is to start the ball rolling so here is my basic plan:

1) We meet at the cider bus around 6.30pm on Thurday as a starting point. If you have a Victor Meldrew mask (as suggested) wear it for Id.

Also I have a small memento badge for the first 50 people. (small donations welcomed - profits to Wateraid ):)

A few of us oldies will be interviewed for Radio Somerset (see previous posts) ;)

2) About 7.45pm we wander over to The Stonebridge Bar in the Park area for a dance about to 70's tunes.

3) About 9.30pm we go over to the Avalon Bar

4) Around 11pm we meet with lots of other efest people in 'The Snake Pit' in Shangri-la for a dance about/crazy time!

This of course won't be to everyone's taste but we are at Glastonbury and everyone is looking for their own good experience so I expect people to come and go throughout the evening. I myself want to pop up to the Stone Circle about 9.10pm to be part of the Flashmob event for probably 20 mins.

I am sure some people will attend all bits of the Meet whilst others come and go.

Please understand this is NOT a highly organised event with a team making things happen - it is just me and whoever else wants to help out. :)

I won't be hearding everyone about as people at Glasto tend to do their own thing whatever and there are distractions throughout the evening as well as possible weather issues..

I intend to have a good time. I will be wearing my 'DaveMac' efest tee shirt and will have a small sign showing that this is the efestivals 2011 OGM.

I look forward to seeing you all on Thursday at the Cider Bus. Lets make this a sucess ! :D

Best Wishes

Dave

I'm In... At 43 I don't know where I come on the old scale, but Ive got a meldrew face with no mask''.

I'm in grumpy hacks crowd. Hopefully 4 or 5 of us can do this meet if they own up to being a og or gum...

Would like to hear all your stories, sample the cider, good music, what more do you want.

Never done a meet, so look forward to it

    • Gojira are unoficially confirmed by the organisation at Hellfest since last December already.   Slayer was supposed to be this year as a Mainstage 2 headliner at the place of Volbeat for a thrash day but negotiations fell off. Very likely to be there next year.    MCR I didn't know about but it fits well with Hellfest's desire to keep one day as more punk/rock orientated.    Europe are a confirmed headliner for Sweden Rock 2027. They will not headline HF but we may seem them on the bill. I am very curious who will be the legacy bands next year at HF. There was some backlash after 2025 and a bit of a return to heavier metal on the bill in 2026 - e.g. Gatekeeper on the main stage. The only considerable legacy acts I see coming (if they are in Europe) and haven't been at HF for a while are Def Leppard, Motley Crue, Slash, FFDP (if you count them as legacy), ZZ Top, and Lynyrd Skynyrd. I really hope they manage to pull sth big for the 20th anniversary like AC/DC.
    • Looking forward to Doja Cat letting us all know what is going on later on today. It is a good job that somebody is keeping us informed.
    • They've got a few gigs in Dec/Jan.  Hoping to pick up a couple of tickets for Margate later today
