Your Husband has dedication, I'll give him that. No sense but dedication.

Lets hope he doesn't spend all day in the heat (hating all the other bands that are on) with no food or water then U2 come on, there's a surge, he faints and is pulled out at the first song and spends the rest of the set in the first aid tent.

I don't think he needs to but if that's what makes his Glastonbury then go for it. You also have a free day to run round the festival nakid having a blast. Everyone's a winner

My other half is a big U2 fan and has decided to spend all day at the Pyramid stage to ensure his front row spot. Personally I think it's a complete waste of a Glastonbury day but each to their own. I get the feeling that U2 fans are a bit more obsessive than some previous headliners but has anyone ever done this before? Any ideas what time he should arrive (he's guessing 8am) or what time you're allowed to stand at the front from?

Well I'll make sure it's a little less crowded for U2 by being elsewhere.

But I have found that up until about the last 3 acts on the Pyramid stage you can pretty easily walk to the front 10 or so people wriggle your way politely past a few more. To get right to the front I just crowd surfing but everyone will probably be trying that for U2.

Here's the answer you need....

If he means to be in the very front row against the barriers - he probably needs to turn up sometime around midday, maybe mid afternoon although might be pushing it.

If he means to be in the front 5/ 10 rows he could turn up before or maybe during morissey and gradually move forward...

I do wonder for his sanity if he has to be in the front row...The sound is crap, you can't see much and you have nowhere to move or dance/ jump...but this is what you need to know.

tell your husband to chill out. front row on a stage like the Pyramid, means you see little, the sound is probably not the best, and it will be so packed that he won't really enjoy it. by the time U2 come on, he would be dehydrated, gagging for a piss and some food.....what's the point.

tell him to find nice central spot halfway between the stage and the sounddesk and he will be in a great spot and arrive in prime condition.

There could be two problems tho

1 - He does not see any of U2 cos he spends all the time trying to film it

2 - He cannot see any of U2 due to the thousands of camera phones in his way !

Why not spend the night in the healing fields and watch it on HD when he gets back home ?

how old is he? ive a younger sister who always need to be at the front to get as close to the band as possible....but presume she'll grow out of it as time goes on.

i never got the attraction to being at the very front. you cant see any of the crowd round behind you so it becomes similar to watching a real close of video of the performance in a way

What you need is a plan of attack - so I've drawn one up...

Colour Code:

Yellow = security

Black - random crowd members

Green - still waiting for Morrissey to come back on

Blue - waiting for Pulp

Red in the centre - Mr ICGenie

Red on the right - me.

System - stand by me, wait for crowd to bounce, lean to the left. You'll be front and centre in no time...

    • So, what would the weather have been like at this year's festival?   It's been shambolic around here, the rain is soul destroying and showing no sign of letting up, bar odd sporadic days here and there. Disgraceful for June.   What's it like down there? Have we had a lucky escape?...

    • belated thanks for this ended up going, was a good evening and a great venue with a cracking beer selection (give the festival a few tips on that). Never been in before despite reasonably local.       Main takeaways from the film (as someone who didnt go for much later). The festival has changes a lot since then apart from the Green Fields that looked the exact same.  Me and my mate both agreed that Shambala is today than Glastonbury.   Cool piece of merch aswell.
