I am laughing at some of the comments on here over the last couple of days 2 being

"Kasabian are a weak headliner" they were voted best UK band last year. Number 1 albums, some great songs. Some very narrow minded people in these forums.

I've yet to see how what you've said makes them not a weak headliner. I do think they're a weak headliner but not for the reasons already stated. However like i've said just because they sell records or get voted the best UK band in a poll, it doesn't mean they're any good.

V is announced on Facebook and the official website. If the rumoured line up that has been released for V is correct there is no Florence on there which makes her very likely for R&L which would be gutting!

I can very much see Florence playing R&L based on that V leak and I'm farly happy with that as long as she doesn't headline. Subbing seems the highest she deserves this year as she's doing that at T and she's probably more suited to the T crowd than R&L's.

They have, several times, and have also sold a lot more records than Kasabian.

While I do like them, I think Kasabian are dull and i'd rather see them sub to somebody like New Order than play the headline slot. But the fact is, they're a great R&L headline booking on paper, good band, a good bunch of anthemic, well-known songs, excellent fit with the demographic and still pretty current, also they've never headlined the fest before. I'd rather see somebody have their slot, and I'll probably watch a tent headliner rather than them, but they are worthy of the top slot.

In other news, how likely are we to see The Kills or Modest Mouse this year? I've missed both of their Leeds sets over the past 2 years because of clashes, and both really pissed me off (actually I don't think there was a clash for Modest Mouse in 2010, I just didn't have a programme or a watch and missed them).

Well it kinda does. If a band fails commercially IE nobody buys their albums or they play small venues they will not headline. Kasabian number 1albums play arenas= Successful headliner.

Voted by who as best UK band? If I asked my friends, they'd probably vote Tribes as the best UK band. It doesn't mean a thing, and so it's pointless evidence. And looking at Kasabian's Wikipedia page, they didn't win any awards last year, so I doubt they were voted best UK band.

Bloc Party have twitter to communicate with fans, fans have asked if they are playing R&L, most likely they aren't allowed to release that they are until the line-up announcement, so they simply say no. That no could either me no (hopefully) or actually mean yes. We don't fucking know no what it means. And the comment you have written above makes no fucking sense.
