Like I said, I wasn't suggesting for one second that this means they're going to play. But I don't think they can be entirely ruled out on hearsay & what I'm assuming you meant was the average age of the R/L goer?

Anyway, it's probably not them, but since everyone's throwing names around for the 3rd headliner, I thought I'd chip in.

you mean when it was stated that the lead singer Kele had/was leaving the band and auditions for a new singer etc, complete tosh mate, was even said as rubbish, they won't say, let's just see or something like that...cause it's almost a give away. Bloc Party give nothing away.

He told the NME that. To troll them.

Kele trolls interviewers. He's notorious for it. It's all because he doesn't like interviews.

"Why is it important to know what I had for breakfast? Or who I went to bed with? Or what sneakers I am wearing? If it's relevant to understanding my music, then so be it. But if it's purely to satisfy the media's obsession with celebrity, then no thanks. I don't want to play that game."

There's also a video somewhere where he flat out says "Yeah I make up a lot in interviews because I get bored." I can't be bothered to dig it out now.

Bloc Party aren't playing.

you have no solid info that they aren't playing other than twitter where they will not say oh yeah we are, i don't that they are but i'm not saying i do. I'm saying let's find out.

i'm saying they get a huge crowd at r&l, that's both in a 08 sub set and an 09 sub set, their main crowd is there, if they don't play this year, IMO, they don't don't next year and r&l misses out on a big selling crowd pleaser for their festival.

i doubt many would disagree with me that Biffy Clyro looked nailed to headline next year, it won't be them and Biffy, even with Blur at the 3rd, that would IMO be seen pretty weak.

Okay, so yr basing all of this on the fact that they would pull a big crowd, am I right? There's an awful lot of bands who would pull a big crowd who for whatever reason, Festival Republic wouldn't have booked. Maybe Bloc Party wanted to play next year because they'd have a better chance of headlining?

There is no evidence that they ARE playing, Neil hasn't heard anything about them at all. There is, however, evidence that they aren't playing, in that Russell has said on numerous occasions over twitter that they aren't playing. Saying you aren't playing isn't being tight lipped, it's quite the opposite, he's openly stating that they aren't playing.

No chance, I know you shouldn't really compare their other placings at festivals with R&L as they're different festivals but they didn't even headline Bestival last year and they headlined second stage at Glasto and V and King Tuts at T, so more likely for 3rd down or R1/NME headliner.

in a way yes, they are a HUGE crowd pleaser at the fest, the fest didn't struggle to sell out at all when they were booked sub 3 years running and before that they were booked as 3rd, again no issues.

there is an awful lot of bands but what i'm saying it, Biffy Clyro said for this year not many shows, next year they'll do loads, they will IMO and most on here I think play and headline and be shared with TITP as well, Neil has said, he wouldn't even rule them out of headlining Glasto but I don't think it'll happen, I think it's moreso that next time they play Glasto they will headline.

There isn't no, but don't go on twitter or whatever cuz they talk more shit and lye more than anyone, it's like a gene's thing for them, they are known very much for it. Neil didn't hear anything from what I've heard about them subbing 09, everyone was surprised, I can't even remember if he heard about them subbing in 08, they stay very tight lipped and let nothing out, they openly state a lot of things. You saying about him telling Nme whatever before and making stuff up cuz they can't be bothered in interviews, says it all.

I really can't be bothered going further into how much yr desperation for Bloc Party to play is leading you to ignore all the evidence that they just aren't playing. Why would Russell Lissack outright say on twitter, to fans, on numerous occasions that they aren't playing if they were? If they were and he didn't want people to know, he'd say nothing. And as I've said before, Bloc Party don't talk rubbish for the hell of it, they do it to troll interviewers. They do it loud and proud, not via a low key twitter mention. And also, what kind of a troll is it to just say to someone on twitter that they aren't playing a festival?

Stop allowing yr desperation for them to play to ignore all the evidence that they just aren't playing. Not that I should care whether or not some random person on an internet forum thinks a band will be playing a festival anyway.

    • Hi Everyone!   I need your help. I'm trying work out who was playing at The Wishing Well at 3am on the Monday morning at the 2025 festival - this was once the official setlist had ended. The music was down tempo, bass heavy, kept evolving, just mesmerising. Anyone have any ideas? and/or was there as well?
