VCK - main stage of that poster I'm loving - and the NME headliners are a good selection.

Have I missed Atreyu getting big again btw? Seen them get a good main stage slot in a few predictions now. Weren't they subbing the FR tent last time they played?

It wouldn't be the first occasion that a non-heavy headliner would have a heavy undercard - Stereophonics 2000, Eminem 2001, KOL 2009. But my reason is because he'd be headlining the Sunday at Reading, and I think next year the Sunday will be heavy again.

I couldn't fit White Lies and Band Of Horses anywhere else on the bill.

Usually there's an American band who gets placed higher than people expect - The National 2011, Vampire Weekend 2009, The Raconteurs 2008, Interpol and Arcade Fire 2007, Yeah Yeah Yeahs 2006. In the instance of my prediction it's The Gaslight Anthem.

After seeing the venue's for Kaiser Chiefs last extended tour.

I wouldn't bet against a day being Kasabian, Mumford and Sons, Kaiser Chiefs now.

And not that anyone has but before the QOTSA do academy dates and headline 2nd, I'm pretty sure Kaiser's were doing arena's before and given their big outdoor show too.

I could see someone coming back and saying that QOTSA do academy dates and still get booked for 2nd so why shouldn't kaiser's. So my point was, that maybe they don't justify it anymore if they did that slot while playing bigger arena's

But why would they be doing an extended 2012 uk tour that was as far as i can see purely academy shows? They've also gone from headlining 4music stage at V in 08 to 3rd main stage in 2011. I know this is regular most places but for eg. the prodigy do this slot on 4music stage, but are they ever going to take 3rd main? surely if as established as you say, kaiser's should be playing under arctics with plan b below? afterall, at the worlds biggest festival, plan b took a 3rd placing below a band also considered to be 4music headliners regular to play in pendulum

Because maybe they want to be playing academies? I'd imagine (and from people I've talked to) it's a lot better for bands to be playing to sold out audiences of 1,000, then pretty lifeless arena/outdoor gigs. With regards to Plan B, remember what fest it is.

indeed, the same festival that had beyonce and coldplay, much more likely to play v than r+l too. so if they are only playing to that amount of people, thats nowhere near enough for a band to be considered sub headliners. and while we're talking about that, kaiser's also got booked to play there below a regular 2nd headliner at leeds too

I missed them for Friendly Fires (but saw them at '06) but didn't the Kaiser Chiefs go down extremely well at Reading when they subbed, putting in a energetic & tight set?

Can't see them headlining ever though unless they have another few Ruby's.

(btw saw footage of V fest in the gym today & it looked well boring. Unlikely but I hope none of those bands play R+L 2012).

jesus, so much landfill indie in the above poster, i'd be hard pressed to come up with a more boring line up

Reading line ups can vary hugely but at least there are always a couple of absolute gems that you might not have expected to see (DFA1979 and The National this year)

SOAD would be enticing I guess but I wouldn't pay for a day ticket to see one band

    • 1000% agree with this. I was there last night, ridiculous how good he was.
    • Hi Everyone!   I need your help. I'm trying work out who was playing at The Wishing Well at 3am on the Monday morning at the 2025 festival - this was once the official setlist had ended. The music was down tempo, bass heavy, kept evolving, just mesmerising. Anyone have any ideas? and/or was there as well?
