Which is the nicest beer... warm!

Thinking early about what drinks to take and you just have to admit it, you're going to be drinking warm beers from a can! So which is the nicest beer to drink warm? We took Kronenbourg and Fosters last year and they were always a bit meh when lukewarm!

Very tricky question.

Lager as a rule is pretty piss poor when not cold. That said some of the stronger/hoppier ones (Peroni or Staropramen frinstantce) ain't so bad, but the problem is they tend not to be all day suckers so you'd be arseholed/barfing/back at tent too soon.

I can drink some ales/bitters that aren't chilled, but I appear to be in a minority from comments of others.

How's about something like a vodka/soft drink combo? i.e. take 250ml or so out of a 2L soft drink bottle and top up with vodka/whisky/whatever? Might be a better bet. Has the advantage of being able to take it on site in the plaggy bottle.

FWIW I've "invested" in an Igloo coolbox this year that will take 48 cans, so will have nicely chilled Stella all weekend. Mmmmmmmm.

My tip is drinking some cooled boiled water, then drink the warm beers, it's like being in the Arctic

If in dire needs of a cold beer, I just pay.. i don't mind it's my holidays!

Last year, I waited until the taps were free then ran my beer under them to take the warmth out of it! x

I drank Carling and Carlsburg warm last year and it was alright. I'm a student and it was cheap, that was my excuse

Never Carlsberg. It's horrible to begin with. Cider is nicer warm out of a can but I'd go for the Stella 4%.

Bitter or ales are definitely better warm.

I tend to have 1 or 2 cold pints from the bars when the bands are on, then after the headliners it's been dark long enough for the beers to be cool(ish)

I do budweiser and strongbow(normally I choose by cans what I see when its on offer:P), I am not a great lover and kind of just drink cos its cheap/to get drunk/cos I am with people who are all drinking pints. Plus I find i drink spirits far to quickly which isn't good for lasting but if i am near decent bar or something I go and pay for a nice cold beer or cider

I was told to do this

soak a thick sock in cold water, put a couple of cans in it and pop it under your groundsheet.

Didn't bother with the soggy sock - cans under the groundsheet stayed nice and chilly. My mate's red wine from a box left in the sun however... Steamed when poured out. As hot as a cuppa!

This is a contentious issue mostly down to the fact that it's a matter of taste in many respects. I think ale can be drunk perfectly happily warm but it's not to everyones taste (such as mine) but what I found last year is anything that is sweetish can be drunk warm. Cider and black (sorry) is perfectly palatable warm as are spirits and mixers. Whisky generally tastes better when slightly warmer/room temp and so this year I'm planning to go with JD and coke in big bottles with a few bottles of Agwa, a lovely bolivian spirit. I know JD isn't real whisky but I'm not taking a 10 yr talisker to glasto

Gotta be magners for me. The only thing i can handle warm. then go and buy a cranberry juice for the vodka. sorts the kidneys right out.

I just get used to it and drink whatever, clarbserg, gaymers, not really fussed if it's warm

we did keep all our lager/cider in coolboxes with ice..to start with-although due to the weather after a few hours it was just a coolbox full of water, but still helped to keep them cool

prob do same again coolbox with ice to start with, who knows how long the ice will last, depends on the weather, then just leave the beers/ciders in the water, still helps a bit!!

I dislike warm beer. I also hate red wine, but isn't it meant to be drunk at room temperature?

The only red wine I have ever liked tasted like Ribena. I asked the girl who poured me the glass which wine it was. She didn't know. The bottle had no lable and she had bought it on a day trip to France in some market somewhere. Ribena or rushed Beaujolais?. I have been having sips of red wine ever since, but none have ever made me go "hmmmm" so much.

I can guzzle the white though. But not warm.

May I suggest that pre-festivaties you slowly adapt your palette towards alcohol more acceptable to non refridgeration?
