Professional football, especially where all the money is, is an interesting example of how competing 'could' be a good thing. But all it does is promote the ethic that you can cheat, foul, do anything as long as you don't get caught, to win.

Competing at a certain level is part of the game. There's not much point in playing if you don't try to win. But does it have to be such a disaster to lose?

I'm not into football but a few of my brothers are. When their team (da Villa) didn't win something a fair while ago one of my brothers was really down about it. I tried explaining that it was only football and nothing to get so involved in that it would bring you down. His response was that I didn't know what a high it was when they won something noteable. Make of all that what you will.
