the darkness were brilliant live, granted it wasnt a stellar performance at reading but in 03 they were great. I can remember watching them to see what the fuss was about and they got a huge crowd having fun. How many people brough the album after they saw this performance? It came out that week and went straight in at no.2 i think?

i dont see how people see them as a piss take, they just decided to be a throwback to a sound long forgotten. Are you saying that every band that sounds and copys an older generations image and sound is a piss take band? if so then you gotta hate alot more bands then just The Darkness

i watched the first 3 'songs' from them in 07 then went too see hot hot heat who were quite good to be fair

Update: I tweeted Dom Lawson asking if there was any truth in The Darkness rumours (he would definitely know) and he said "I couldn't possibly comment!" which pretty much confirms it to me. You have to admit that Def Leppard + The Darkness is a lot stronger than just Def Leppard + Alter Bridge or whatever.

Tom Russell on Rock radio Scotland had mentioned that The Darkness were very strongly roumoured and Tom usualy know what is going on behind the scenes

Looks like it is true about a reformation, a facebook page and official site homepage has now been set up, both declared legitimate by bassist Frankie Poullain on his facebook page..
