The Killers

The Killers today announced their triumphant return. They play the Lollapalooza festival at the beginning of August and traditionally many acts that play that often fly over to play the festivals in Europe at the end of August, including Reading & Leeds. The band last played in 2008 so it meets the organisers' wishes not to have headliners return until at least 3 years after their slot. They would live up to the exclusive and staggering comments by Melvin Benn this week and could leave us with a Muse // The Killers // The Strokes headlining bill, very modern Reading & Leeds friendly. Just to show, in 2009 Kings of Leon played Lollapalooza and played Reading & Leeds that year as did Rise Against, Arctic Monkeys, White Lies, Kaiser Chiefs and loads more so it happens often

If it ends up being Muse/The Strokes/The Killers I will be exstreamly dissapointed. :(

This years RnL is my first and I would be destroyed after watching 5 years of great headliners on BBC coverage to then have RnL turn into this.

    • Tbf that happened to me in 2022 so not a one off. 40 euros to drive down 3 streets. I'd have done a runner but the reason for getting the taxi in the first place is cos I couldn't walk no more.
    • I was fully prepared (waterproof jacket, extra pair of socks, foldable umbrella), but after four hours in the rain (from Geese through Oklou to Florence Road), it was just too much. Already at the hotel, let's hope tomorrow's better.
    • It’s rare that I watch question time, but I almost felt sorry for Kenyon, he seemed like a guy just brought off the street which effectively is what he was, made worse by the fact Burnham and the Tory guy were very strong debaters. I think Burnham was very aware not to go too hard on Kenyon and risk him getting sympathy, in fact he pretty much ignored him.
    • Shambles. Transport and comms garbage. Been looking forward to this since last June and have never been to a more disorganised festival in 30+ years.  Why we were told the whole festival was cancelled for the night if they had put back shows for a few hours?  Pissed off to say the very least and put a huge downer on the rest of the weekend.
    • Rotten communication. Actually god awful. Posting sporadically on IG, closing Mordor only to reopen and cause some serious carnage. Left the festival as it got too much for my 16year old daughter. She was devastated about Alex G and Mac…but TV girl could have saved it. Took us until 1220 and already home to find out they might/are playing. Pish.    and on another note, this festival has lost its bastard soul. Gone are the wee tents with local sellers selling vinyl, t shirts etc, now you can buy a 50 f**king eur official T-shirt. The ar*e is truely out of this event now. I went to Porto for the first time last year and it was fab. I love Barcelona and the line up is always stacked, but this festival is a corporate loss take. Hopefully a better day tomorrow.
