Just proves that the lack of any announcement has turned people off, I reckon there will be a lot more of the other festivals sold. Isle of Whight, T, Download.

I think the I've got my ticket threads are for the ticket release day to keep encouraging people to try and when the tickets actually arrive at your house.

Even though the line-up is announced after the tickets go on sale, actually having an idea of who is playing is a good thing, it is tended to be known who is defo ruled out due to v etc, and the line-up nearly always kicks ass through the day anyway with some real Gems, last year had some quality mainstage bands third fourth fifth and sixth from top. Plus the other stages have something for everyone.

I also think people would prefer to buy early summer festival tickets first, because they have longer to get the cash together for R&L

I'll most probably be getting a ticket in March but I think alot of people will be in the same boat as me and not have the cash just now, yes it will cost more in March but there is also an extra 3 months to save that cash and in March we'll know who's playing.

I do agree however that they should give at least one headliner now to persuade people to get tickets.

But then don't you think it's detrimental to the purpose of a music festival if you go to it regardless of how good the line-up is? It's as if you're saying that they could have somebody like The Saturdays or Cheryl Cole as a headliner and you'd still go, pissing on the past glories of having Nirvana, Pixies, The Cramps, etc, play just because it's routine to go there and enjoy yourself instead of enjoying the music.

I think it's important that you enjoy yourself but wouldn't it be better to enjoy yourself whilst knowing that your £200 was spent wisely on seeing a handful of great bands?

You shouldn't assume that people aren't concerned about the music just because they're willing to go before they hear the lineup announcement. I buy an earlybird every year on the basis that I know I'll still enjoy myself if the lineup isn't good, but that's not to say I don't go for the music. On the contrary, if you take an example like 2009 where the mainstage lineup had little that appealed to me that I'd heard of, it just meant that I spent a lot of time at the lock up or discovering new bands.

    • Not necessarily but it should be, Download have a habit of messing it uo when others get the bookings on point. Good Charlotte I doubt are playing 3rd down and that too 3 that day while dreamy is too strong. I think you'd have one another day to help sell weekend tickets. I also doubt Papa Roach play.

    • Another Kraftwerk one for me today, as just back from seeing them.
    • Completed my 2026 survey. Put down Super Furry Animals as my most wanted for next year but suspect the moment has gone for that. Popped a big shopping list in the box for who else you would like to see. 🙂
