Bjork is anti-climactic for me. I won't start on here what I started on the official forums; I mean a lot of people are clearly going to enjoy her so for those disappointed, we'll always have an alternative. I don't get why people complain - opinions, yes, but complaints about who she is, her value as a headliner, her popularity... it's just not worth it. We could have had somebody better but she's good enough for most people, I suppose. I doubt I'll go to watch her.

Does Bestival have an arena set up like Leeds where you have to queue up? or is it open like Glasto? If I decide to go it looks like it will be by myself and don't think I could stand having to cue up everyday to see the music.

I really, really encourage you to join in with the fancy dress shenanigans. Loads of people do -- I reckon at least half the crowd in 2008 -- and it really adds to the atmosphere.

Not exactly! There is an arena so you will get your drinks taken off you as you go in if they see you with them, but I thought that the transition from campsite to Arena isn't that noticeable as there were hardly any queues when we went in. Plus there is a lot of cool stuff outside the entrance to the arena, so it all kinds of blends together. It's definitely not as noticeable as other festivals!

Awesome. I'd lost hope on Bjork until the rumours started leaking. Best realistic booking possible. Hell, of the ones discussed here I would have only preferred Bowie.

Aha, the map shows that things have changed tremendously since my last visit in 08. Then, the main stage was where the Black Dahlia tent is now; the crowd would stand where Arcadia is now.

Does anybody know how busy the car ferries from Southampton are on the Thursday morning?

We're looking into staying in Southampton on the Wednesday night, and there seems to be plenty of availability for ferries on the Red Funnel website for the following morning which surprised me.

Stay on the Isle of Wight on Wednesday instead. Much cheaper ferry travel and closer to the festival come thursday morning. I also imagine it'll be far less chaotic on the wednesday as well.

As I am stupid would someone give me a step by step guide as to how to get to the festival. Need to fly from Northern Ireland should we go to Southampton or Portsmouth, which day should we get to the I.O.W which day.
