Anybody else think U2 are gonna seem disapointing after Arcade Fire?

Well...if they won't play, we could always get these guys!...They're a collective of musicians from San Antonio who play a classic album entirely each month (different musicians)...their OK computer is note perfect, but alas, the singer sounds nothing like Thom so it seems weird...this on the otherhand is the best Arcade Fire cover I've ever seen...(their versions the rest of the album are great too)...

Ha that is awesome. I love the fact they are clearly completely going for it, not just going through the motions of the cover.

Although to be fair, I don't think I've ever heard anybody cover Arcade Fire.

Will Mumford and vaccines be playing if they're doing the hyde park gig too?

not necessarily - for example, Jamiroquai supported Stevie Wonder at a Hyde Park gig last summer, but wasn't at Glasto.

The Moncton gig has just been confirmed on Arcade Fire's facebook for July 30th.

They've subbed to them in the past which is why most people reckon they'll be subbing to them.

Plus weren't there something last year about how the band on before U2 had to be someone who had supported them on tour, something to do with the set up if I remember rightly

Well we had Dizzee, which wasn't the case. But then I guess he was chosen because Elbow/Arcade Fire/whoever else does it wasn't available. And his stage set up is some DJ thing and some party poppers.

Muse have supported and still support U2 these days, yet the headlined last year. So i see no reason why Arcade Fire couldn't headline one night. It would be delightful.

I think AF are now surely big enough to be one of those bands who have two sets of equipment/crew so that only they would have to travel to Luxembourg - that's not too much of a stretch in 18-20 hours. There's also no reason why they couldn't give some sub-headliners another 30 minutes and start 30 minutes earlier in the morning, or make it up over the day. If AF were to be under U2 with a 90-100 minute set rather than 60-70 it'd feel much more like a headline slot and make their decision easier. No reason why the same principal shouldn't apply to Pulp too.

yeah I think the announcement of AF supporting U2 just makes it more likely that its possible for them to do the same at glastonbury. Personally I cant see why they couldn't headline the Saturday and go to Luxenbourg on the sunday

The only back to back dates they have announced are at the same venue. If they're playing, it'll be to sub U2.

Just announced two shows: manchester MEN 31st aug & edinburgh castle 1st sept.

Dobt think this really affects their chances though

I'm thinking this means if they do play, it's pretty much confirmed they'll sub (it was always most likely but this seems to confirm it).
