I said that if two opposing ideologies can be applied to arrive at the same conclusion then the conclusion is not ideological. Ergo, Cameron's policy of scrapping the ID card is not specifically Tory. It can only be Tory if no other ideology permits it.

So, you either agree because it's not specifically Tory or because you agree with some Tory principles. But you can't disagree with all Tory principles and agree with scrapping the ID card, unless you accept that this policy is not a Tory one.

There's cross-over amongst plenty of ideologies in what they want to achieve, while the reasons for why they want to achieve that thing differ.

People go to Hampton Court and Buckingham Palace not because they are nice building but they like to see where Roylaty live, the Queen's guard and the rest of the bullshit associated with them, they wouldn't give care about seeing them otherwise but I wouldn't say they are the main reason people come over here though.

royalty haven't lived at Hampton for centuries, so it looks like the tourists are as daft as you.

It's not a reason why people come here at all. They don't get to see royalty.

They do come here to see the trappings of royalty. Just as they do in France which has been a republic for 200 years.

So the monarchy can be abolished and zero will change for tourism - while the country will gain the ex-estates of one set of landed gentry to everyone's benefit, without any effect on that as they're not available to tourists anyway. Plus of course millions of pounds each year to everyone's benefit.

If benefit claimants need addressing, then the biggest claimants are the ones to target first.

that's already been covered - a 25% cut in govt funds to local authorities, while having greater responsibility dumped onto those local authorities which have to be done out of that vastly reduced pot.
