latest unisys charts show what was a minor low y'day ... turning into a pain in the arse low from monday onwards, but clearig away later Weds to leave what should then be a sunny and warm few days at least.

charts updated every day. the projected weather situation will most likely change b4 the fest.

objectifying women IS sexist. I'm able to recognise it for what it is even when I'm guilty of sometimes doing it myself. It's a shame you don't have the same ability to recognise it.

Unlike you, I'm not defending my own actions, even tho my own sexist posts were in a thread where the title made clear what it was - unlike the posts here, which had no place here.

You claim them as "harmless fun" - yet people have posted to say they were offended. How's that the "harmless" thing you believe it is?

How???

When the sick joke thread was alive and kicking do you think people would have not realised what was going to be said and chosen to click or not?

It really does amaze me sitting here that people just dont get it...

Its a thread about weather, not some thread about Kylie's arse or anything else self titled that give the viewer a rough idea of a topic, that might contain something objectionable...

A weather thread should be about weather, jokes, banter and stuff fine, but this has been going on for days, people warned and now people moaning when action has been taken...

Simple thing is, if people dont like it they can go elsewhere. However as the majority of people come to this thread to seek information (however scientific or amateur) why should they be exposed to woman's bits and a school boy attitude????

What ever you have against Efest's mod take it elsewhere and stick to the subject matter.. FFS

I liked the pictures, It was done in a light hearted way no? I don't understand the weather systems, it was an easy way for me to understand what was going on. A comic rather than a broadsheet if you will.

So when the sun shines next week and there's girls in their bikini tops will anybody ask them to put their tops on as they find it a bit sexist?

There's nothing sexist about showing them pictures, if people added derogatory captions to go with them then yes…boom, mega disgust. But they were done in relation to the weather and the Germans.

I'm offended by people's talk of drugs on this forum, that's super illegal.

Tatty-bye

Was it posted in a thread about the weather, or was it in a thread which title clearly shows what the thread is about? We live in a hugely sexist society, and me no less than others am not immune from being effected by it. However, some are able to recognise it for what it is, while others clearly aren't as this thread got to prove.

As I've said, I don't expect perfection. But after two days of people ignoring requests for the sexist posts in this thread to stop, and after a number of complaints about them - including a number of people being driven away from this site because they didn't like that content - then action needed taking for things to be reigned in.

While some might like to drag the argument up again, I suggest that they re-read the thread and note the number of posts from people who have expressed their dislike for the sexism that was being unnecessarily displayed in a weather thread. Hopefully those other people's words might sink in where my own have failed.

lovely drying day here in Bath...heavy showers overnight though so although the roads are now bone dry the ground is likely to take longer to dry....and with the threat of more showers tomorrow and Saturday there looks like being less and less of a window to dry the ground out fully before Wednesday....

the local forecast here is also saying heavy rain on Monday, which if it happens would pretty much close the deal on the site getting churned up once a few thousand have yomped across it...no matter how much sun we had on Tuesday...

struggling to stay positive now to be honest....sorry :(

"My own actions" - for the millionth time I have not posted one racy image. I have posted fewer images of girls in skimpy clothes on here (ie zero) than you ever have. I don't have any actions to defend.

You do: your failure to recognise sexism for what it is, and your defence of it in the posts you've made.

Hows about you tell me why you set my posts to pre-moderated, or put a warn status on my profile? I think it was because I'd made you look silly enough on here, am I right?

you couldn't be more wrong.

It was because I don't wish to spend my days trying to wise up people who can't see things for what they are. You're simply not that important to me.

I removed your moderation because I believed you'd at least learnt to let it go, if nothing else. It seems I was wrong, and that you still wish to present as "harmless" what was causing unnecessary offence (as can be seen by the posts of those who expressed their offence), and in a thread where they had no place.

I've said I don't expect perfection. For example, I wouldn't have acted in the same manner in a Beyonce thread because that's someone who exploits male sexism, and so sexist comments there would have more relevance. Sexist posts in this thread had no place and were completely unnecessary.

However unlike, say, racism, mild sexual objectification in the form of the non pornographic pictures posted by other members exists in every form of mainstream media out there. It's something in keeping with society, something that is featured in almost every newspaper. While many lament that sexual objectification has become so commonplace in our society over the last thirty years or so, it doesn't mean that all images which can be interpreted sexual objectification are also sexist.

Just because it's a mainstream part of society doesn't make it right. What part of that do you find so sdifficult to understand?

In some places sexism has better relevance than others (see my Beyonce comments above). Constant sexism in this thread had no place whatsoever.

So, try again. And unless you can give me a good reason as to why I have a warning bar, I'd kindly request you remove that too.

see above.

People just need to RELAX this is all supposed to be fun posting on here, not some overly heated debate about who is sexist and what not. Let's all rejoice at the fact that Glasto is a mere 6 days away and enjoy that rather than getting at each other, there's nothing like the weather to get us Brits arguing eh?!! :)

while i'm sure this ceaseless debate with neil is fun for some, it's making for tedious reading and b*ggering up entirely what is usually a great thread.

please stop. you're all making the baby eavis cry.

what we need to be looking for is a big wave of low pressure in central scotland next week. if there is, it means the weather gods have taken the deal i offered and it'll be dry at glasto for you all.

Don't forget in 09 when we had those torrential downpours on the Thursday night and I think Friday morning, the ground was getting really churned up in some places and they were having to put hay down to try and stop people slipping but when the sun came out it was bone dry by that afternoon.

I'd say that the forecast is certainly more promising than it was a few days ago.

If we were at Glastonbury this week we'd certainly be looking at a mudfest (tomorrow's rain is going to be monumental) but luckily we have the weekend to get over it and hopefully Worthy Farm's land will drain sufficiently!

Awwwwww diddums Neil, did I say something you didnt like and you tried to ban me?

Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww, if you ban everyone who dares to disagree with you, there will be no one left

I am sure you will ban this account too, but honestly one day just take a look in the mirror and see how pathetic this "Its my forum and if you dare disagree with me over the mildest thing I will ban you" attitude is, they say mods are the guys who got bullied at school and are on a powertrip, I guess you must have got reallly really bullied then

Carry on with your power trip laddo, I'll pop along to the efests meet shall I? See how mouthy you are then!!

I feel bad about writing a screed about this in what's supposed to be a weather thread, but again, I can't see a way around it. If I create a new thread, it belongs in the Wibble forum, and nobody will read it.

"Sexism" is strictly the wrong word, in the same way as "xenophobia" is frequently misused (think about it, people described as "xenophobic" are rarely actually frightened of foreigners. However when we use the words "sexist" and "xenophobic" casually, it's generally understood what's meant by it.

In the case of Loaded-style babe pics, "sexist" is used as shorthand for "degrading to women".

    • Ghost did it on their last tour  and there was a whole article of people complaining about it at the Manchester gig cause somehow they werent informed and didnt know why there was a massive queue to enter the venue. At MSG everyone was given a souvenir ticket which had their seat info written on it so you knew where go to. Itll be fine.
    • If anyone happens to have a Sunday ticket (or two) to sell then I would be interested in buying for face value. Thanks!
    • NIN and Bjork for sure 😉
    • When are  the stage splits ??
    • 13th Primavera (Thursday was definitely making me feel like this was the cursed year).  Blood Orange was such a party by the end of their set but we all knew that rain storm was approaching.  So gutted Massive Attack didn't play after the false hope of a new rescheduling, especially knowing that Elizabeth Fraser & Horace Andy were backstage with them!  Managed a bit of Melt Banana but was just so over the weather by that point.   Friday was awesome, Rilo Kiley were so much fun.  Never been the biggest Cure fan but made the effort for them after Thursday & Robert Smith sounds like he did back in the 80s.  PinkPantheress & Viagra Boys were also great.   The highlight for me was Sudan Archives on the Saturday, she was stunning & with the Olivia Rodrigo surprise set too it made up for the Thursday sh*t show.  Dijon & Knocked Loose also superb.   Shoutout to Cardiacs on the Tuesday too, they were so LOUD, played a storming set.
