I just bought a ticket for the Sunday as I managed to get one on Gumtree for £30. Have been sceptical before about going as have heard that it's really hard to get into any of the good gigs and there's a lot of queueing involved. Is it as bad as everyone makes out, or do you just have to make the effort to turn up at the venue for the band before you want to see in order to get in in time?

TBH, I'm only really that bothered about seeing The Lemonheads, the rest I'm happy to wander around and take what turns up. They're playing the HMV Forum which is pretty big, so does anyone know how busy that gets? I'm kind of hoping that The Lemonheads aren't going to be a huge draw for a load of scenesters anyway (just middle-aged blokes like me!).

Depends, certain bands you have no chance of just turning up and seeing them so you will need to see the band on before at least but at the same time it's hard to tell if The Lemonheads will be crammed as I remember Billy Bragg being impossible to get in but Echo & The Bunnymen & Dammned walking straight in. As it's in the Forum maybe less people will turn up as it's a trek from Camden main but this is the 1st year the Forum has been involved so who knows.

Looks like there's an iPhone app too, but it costs £2.99, and I'm too cheap to pay that! Last year there was a mobile website with all the info on, but it's not been updated for 2011 yet (unless it's a different URL).....

Thanks! I saw The Lemonheads two years ago on Brighton Beach at the White Air Festival. Even though it was about 3pm, the sun was out and they were giving away all the tickets outside (due to poor sales), there was still hardly anyone there. Fingers crossed (or I may have to stand through the Guillemots!).

Well, I've got to say i was impressed. I'm sure there was the odd queue here or there but I didn't have any problems getting into anything at all. After what I'd read, I didn't think I'd have any chance getting into Koko for Simian Mobile Disco at midnight (as a lot of other places were shut by this point) but we left the Lemonheads at 11pm (after they finished) and walked straight in and went to the front.

£30 (I got my ticket secondhand) to see Simian Mobile Disco, Lemonheads, Guillemots and four or five smaller acts was an absolute bargain!

    • If you didn't see melt banana at Apolo. Go see them at the festival. Insane.
    • Interesting, and thanks for coming back to give an update! I've seen that the second stage looks bigger than usual too, looks to be a Serious Stages - Stellar Stage from distance photos.    Seems like sizing wise stages have been scaled up somewhat this year.
    • I see its cancelled now but they did leave it really late to announce plus they are up against Kelburn Garden Party Festival not to far from the festival site.
    • Easily my favourite set of the day.
