Well I couldn't have hoped for a better set of results this weekend really. Another cracking result for us, showed real backbone again to get the win. Sets up the game against Spuds on Saturday superbly, should be a really good game. Here's hoping we don't lose too many players while they're away on international duty - they do seem to take the words "international Break" a little bit too seriously.

Special mentions for Djourou and Fabianski, who both played very well yesterday.

As for some of the other games, how ManU got away with a point on Saturday I don't think i'll ever know. Can't argue with their never say die spirit, but they look so out of sorts at the mo. As for Chelsea's result, well I certainly didn't see that coming. SHows that when you take away a few of their main players, their squad isn't brilliant (although still better than most). Oh and Man City will never win the league with Mancini in charge.

Had to laugh at Inter losing again yesterday, Rafa is truely bringing his special magic to the san siro

And that Sunderland can piss all over them. B)

---

Well, Bruce finally listened to the fans and played an attacking 4-4-2 with Zenden and Richardson on the wings. If only he'd played this way against Liverpool, Man Utd and Newcastle we'd be top of the league right now.

PMSL :lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

Good to see you've the same knowledge of football as you have everything else.

Have you forgotten the spanking that the (you say) "over-rated" Newc team gave you just a couple of weeks ago?

As anyone with no knowledge of Sunderland will tell you and who thinks that Newc fluked the Championship last year and fluked a huge win against Sunderland, we lost the game because we played a defensive 4-5-1 formation without Zenden and Richardson. We're a very attacking side and have drawn and lost games we should have won due to Bruce playing a defensive 4-5-1 formation.

The above is overtly implied in my original post.

corrected for you. :)

What?

Steve Bruce thought Jones too poor a player for Jones to keep playing for Sunderland and only worth £9M - despite saying he was worth at least £40M less than 18 months previously.

Too hard for you to understand? Then try the easy version again....

Even Steve Bruce eventually got to realise that Jones is far from a great player (unlike one Sunderland fan ), despite all his guff about him being worth £40M.

Wtf is with Ashley Cole - couple of big mistakes in 2 of the last 3 games, very unlike him. Sounds like he migh tbe injured as well which doesn't bode well for the Birmingham game if Terry / Alex are out as well

Why oh why did Paulo start at centre back, surely Bruma would have been worth a shot.

We have no drive / urgency in midfield at all at the moment, don't know why he doesn't drop malouda back into midfield as Zhirkov / Ramires in the middle is really really light weight (ramires needs time to settle in).

Can't take nothing away from Sunderland though - they were superb from the off. Gyan looks really handy - him and Bent up front could be amazing if they can work together.

Bar Man U - sunderland and bolton lost the least amount of games so far this season, wouldn't have predicted that at the start of the season.

edit: if Cech hadn't have been playing, Sunderland would have had at least 5. Really need Lampard back...

Kind of disagree with the bit in bold as Sunderland were the first team so far this season in the league to actually attack us from the off. We normally have one bad month a season, I'm hoping it's this month and not December (where our fixture list is shocking)

Drogba was playing, but sure didn't look like it

Not as bad as Utd. I don’t think teams are afraid of having a go at Utd now either. Theres defo a gap closing in the league. Teams like Stoke and Sunderland playing good football and not afraid at all of the big teams?! Sunderland going to the bridge and having a right go. Good to see.

Not sure I agree that Stoke play good football, but it's certainly very effective and hard to play against. I think what teams have realised is that the defenses of the top sides just aren't that good compared to previous years. This is especially the case with ManU this season, they look incredibly shakey at the back. In years gone by if United went 1 up you'd think it was game over, but this season you're pretty certain that there'll be more chances for the opposition.

Theres defo a gap closing in the league.

it's more than that - the whole of the Prem has gone to shit, the quality has fallen all round with all teams.

Just look at how the promoted teams are doing this season, as well as how they've improved over the last couple of years - teams in the Champs are no longer a way off being able to compete in the Prem, they're now easily able to come up and compete in the Prem ... and it's not because the Champs has suddenly improved loads in quality either, it's cos the Prem has fallen quite a lot!

    • I'd be absolutely amazed if they went without a female headliner.

    • Kinda sounds like we’re heading towards Fender, Fontaines & Harry however I can’t see them not getting a female headliner so think it’ll be Fender or Fontaines and another. They’ll obviously try for Madonna but they’ve also tried before, really depends on whether she’s bothered about it.
    • and we are all set up for 222 and 122😉😊
