SO not only has Ashley got the Mickeys to hand over £40million for Carroll but he's also got the kid to waive his fees by making him issue a transfer request.

Who thought he was thick? You don't get to make the amount he has unless you're all of shrewd and ruthless and smart, or very very VERY lucky. And no one is that lucky.

None of that changes the fact that he got mugged by Shepard tho, but Shepard had been mugging the Newc fans for years anyway (by laiming to be pumping money into the club when he was actually extracting it), so he's an expert.

If Liverpool have got £48M plus Anelka for him (that's one report I've read, could be wildly wrong tho) then I'd say that Liverpool will have done a decent bit of buying this window ... as long as Carroll turns out to be worth something near to what they've paid.

And I'll wet myself if Torres gets crocked without playing too many games and Liverpool finish the season above them (unlikely, but not impossible, and perhaps not even too difficult [if Chelsea continue to average what they've done so far]).

If I had to put money on it either way right now, I'd agree with you.

But there is still the possibility he'll turn out to be a great buy, only time will tell. Perhaps Kenny has a plan for Carroll & Suarez together, who knows?
