Wenger speaks out over allegations

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger spoke out after allegations concerning his private life were carried in a national newspaper.

The football manager said the claims were a "serious matter" that he wished to deal with "privately".

Arsenal Football Club echoed the sentiment, calling for Wenger and his family's privacy to be respected.

The comments follow a front page article in The Sun containing allegations surrounding the 61-year-old's personal life.

Responding to the story, Wenger said in a statement: "This is a very serious matter. I do not intend to make any comment and wish to deal with the matter privately."

A club statement read: "Arsenal Football Club considers the allegations concerning our manager Arsene Wenger strictly a private matter and we ask that the privacy of Arsene and his family be respected."

I thought after last year the standard at the top of the premiership couldnt get worse, however I think i was mistaken. Still should make for a close title race. I think the media should change tact and tell wenger not to change keeper as he seems obsessed with proving people wrong.
