sorry but I disagree entirely. f**k fifa, why should the journos keep schtum to give us a chance to win the bid? its about time the whole f**king organisation was hauled over the coals. football is a sport rife with corruption, and I say it should be exposed at every opportunity.

chuckled to 5live the other day saying "is Bale the best player in the world at the moment?"

um, mr ronaldo with 11 in his last 7, and Mr Messi with 8 in last 7 disagree.

Ronaldo at madrid: 46 in 49.

In the same period. Messi 62 in 66.

Absolute monsters.

On a different person but still world class players, anyone see Gerrard back to form last night?

He played like he hasn't for well over a year, and drove them on for the win like he used to. Perhaps it's form he'll keep up from now on.

But I doubt it. While he was clearly enjoying himself and did make a huge difference, he looked far too knackered by half way thru the second half - and he'd only been on the pitch since half time. I'd say a big part of his drop in form is down to fitness and nothing else.

I agree here, but the difference is the likes of Ronaldo / Messi / Drogba / Xavi / Sneijder / Iniesta / Etoo etc have been in the form they are now for a good couple of years. Forgetting strikers, Ashley Cole has been the best left back in England and possibly one of the best in the world for the last year or so.

Bale's had 2 good games against the european champions, been marked out of the Everton / Man U games by Phil Neville and Rafael respectively and people are claiming he is one of the best players in the world 'at the moment' based on his 2 games against Inter - it's fricking madness.

If you want to talk wingers (which Bale pretty much is at the mo) in England - Malouda has been in absolutely phenomenal form since last March unlike Bale, likewise with Nani yet you dont see the media climbing into there arses every day of the week.

The 3 goals he scored though were all down to huge defensive errors though, rather than things he created himself. Good to see him getting into decent positions, but all 3 goals were gifts.

Hmmm, not sure I completely agree that they weren't things he created (tho of course the penalty wasn't).

Not so many players would have bothered going for the back-passed ball via which he got his first, and while the defender was caught napping by Lucas for the third, that was a nicely worked attack by the three players involved.

I agree that defensive errors gave the opportunities, but that's very often the case for goals scored by anyone.

The main point I was making tho about his performance was the way he picked the whole team up (they all played better when he was on the pitch) and drove them on for the win - it was like the Gerrard of old, that's not been seen for a while.

I was very surprised to hear it was only his 4th ever hat-trick. I'd have thought he'd have got more than that over the years.

FIVE-WAY BATTLE EXPLAINED

1 ALONSO 231pts

2 WEBBER 220pts

3 HAMILTON 210pts

4 VETTEL 206pts

5 BUTTON 189pts

If Alonso wins in Brazil, he will be champion unless Webber is higher than fourth

If Alonso is second, he will be champion unless Webber is higher than eighth, Hamilton higher than fourth or Vettel wins

If Alonso is third, he will be champion unless Webber finishes in the top 10, Hamilton in the top four and Vettel in the top three

If Alonso does not finish on the podium, it will go to Abu Dhabi

Button can only stay in contention if he finishes first or second but is out if Alonso finishes in the top six or if Webber is in the top two

Vettel must beat Alonso on track to stay in contention

    • So we've signed a Horny Czech, and Bruno's turned up the training camp instead of doing Isak's nonsense.   Still not sure I believe Bruno's staying mind, but glad he's not doing the sh*t Arsenal are asking him to do to lower the price. If they want him they can stump up.   My suspicion is that whichever of Madrid/Man City don't start next season with Rodri will go for Bruno, and one of them will come in while Arsenal have f**ked about trying to get him cheap, which while I absolutely want to keep him, would still be good enough bants and a nice middle finger that I wouldn't mind it so much. I just wish we'd report Arsenal for tapping up.   If rumours are to be believed, we're after 2 more defensive signings, and an attacking player, on top of a replacement if Bruno leaves, having already signed a LW, 2 CMs, a GK, and some youth players. Huge churn, but apart from a couple of Bazou Toure's games for Ivory Coast at the world cup, I've not seen any of them play. Over 2 summers we've basically changed our entire team aside from the CBs.
    • I think the level of headliners Bloodstock get is varied    There's been bands who have gone on to play Download in quite a low spot like Meshuggah, Behemoth, Opeth etc.    Then they've had years like 2025 where you can argue that all three headliners are download main stage sub level    Knocked Loose right now i'd argue are 3rd down on main/opus headliner level while EC and FFDP are borderline main stage sub
