Bearing in mind how much the festival costs, even with the rain you have got to make the best of it, so a decent set of waterproofs and wellies and as much alcohol as you can carry and you will be fine.

Its really down to how wet it is before the event as that is when the damage is done although the drainage has got better over the years - anyone who survived 1985 will know what I on about.

I promised, promised, promised myself I wouldn't look at these sort of threads this year. Because every year the naysayers start bumming people out weeks before the festy happens, without any clearer idea of what the weather is going to be like than my dog has.

If you look at the weather thread (yes I looked at that one too), different forecasts have predicted everything from monsoon weather to apocalyptic heatwaves.

As a wise woman once said "que sera sera, whatever will be will be". Pack your wellies and your mankini, turn up on the day, and have a ball whatever. I was there in 2007 and it was a ballache at times, but I still had a blast.

Rainmacs at festivals..... They don't keep you any drier and they're about as comfortable as wearing a suit made of thorns

What with the crowds, the miles of walking and the hotter June temperatures you end up sweating like a pig inside one so just don't bother, plus they're a ballache to carry round when its not raining!

have you seen that.. all ive seen is things like-

it will be sunny but with rain and a chance of snow in the day and a few minor earthquakes.

as the night comes in it will bring hot and sunny weather but a severe weather warning and a chance of a tornado.

It's not netweather.tv is it? I compared what they were saying with what Metcheck were saying at the weekend.

Metcheck were 100% right, and netweather was 100% wrong.

Current Glasto forecasts? Netweather say torrential rain, and metcheck say it's not.

Given Metcheck's history of being the most accurate with its forecasts compared to other forecasters, I'm sticking with what Metcheck say.

What a negative thread. Its 2 weeks til the festival and the weather cannot be predicted very successfully at this stage. Personally i come on the boards to get excited about the best festival in the world. I find starting a topic like this a bit sh*tty to be honest. :angry:

What weather forecast are you on about? The Metoffice has just released a typically wishy-washy, noncommittal "forecast" saying that it'll probably rain a bit in June, and there will be some sun as well, but we couldn't say when & where. Terrified of committing after their BBQ Summer fiasco last year, they're offering nothing of use at all. Consequently the BBC and others have latched onto this non-forecast as evidence that it's going to rain on Glasto & Wimbledon. It's cobblers.

We now have a "June monsoon" every year where it rains for a week or so. This year we're getting it this week. It'll be probably fine by the end of the month. The Weather Outlook, which forecast last summer's weather correctly, and forecast both snow-dumps over xmas correctly, has the following forecast for June:

Month: Jun 1 to Jun 30: Reasonable

Temperature

Over the forecast period, temperatures are expected to be slightly above the Central England Temperature (CET) average.

Precipitation

Slightly below average.

1/6 to 7/6

Improving during the week with an increasing amount of fine weather after an indifferent start as high pressure builds across the country. Temperatures should gradually rise and it will become rather warm.

8/6 to 14/6

Becoming less settled with showers or longer spells of rain returning during the week. It is likely to turn significantly cooler for a while, and possibly quite windy for the time of year.

15/6 to 21/6

Turning drier and warmer during the week, especially in southern parts. Still less settled in the north at times with showery rain.

22/6 to 30/6

A lot of fine and summery weather is expected during the last part of the month. Temperatures should generally be above average across the whole of the country, and it may become very warm in the south for a time.

So don't worry - chances are it'll be fine.
