It is true. And theres legislation being attempted to be passed at the moment by the gun nuts to make the laws even looser! Thats the solution. Not less guns to make the country less dangerous, but more guns to fight to the dangerous people who already have guns.

And the Democrats in particular won't touch the issue. In 94, Clinton signed an assault weapons ban. Two months later the Democrats lost their majority in the House for the first time since the 50s. Clinton later said the assault weapons ban had a lot to do with it. Interestingly enough, the assault weapons bill was reversed in 2004, 5 years after Columbine.

Gun sales..... err.......shot up......... after the shooting at the weekend by the way.

This is the assault rifle he used - legal as a pint of milk.

20 seconds in. Those poor people.

:O

Real life final destination, apparently one of the people killed was in the Toronto mall when the Canadian shooting happened last month. She felt funny and went outside for fresh air just before it happened.

I had another thought about the If Hitler hadn't lived question.

If he had died and germany had had a slightly more moderate government in the 30s, and the holocaust didnt happen, would we as liberals still have the same abhorrence for predjudice?

Not saying that the holocaust was a good thing but maybe it had the effect of showing us what extreme predjudice can do, and what humans can be capable of if allowed to start down that road.

You've dragged up a very old post there. I'm not sure that poster is still around.

Anyway...

We did not need the extermination of Europe's Jews to know the entire destruction of people's was wrong.

It depends who you mean by "we". ;)

Back then the views of the people of this country were not the same as they are now, or even as post-war Britain pretended to itself they were.

Rubbish. You're even calling it "the" holocaust. How about the extermination of the Christian Turks? Churchill himself called it a "holocaust" decades before WW2 started.

That's exactly their mentality. Its the reason Texas is allowing those with concealed weapons license (allows you to carry a gun pretty much anywhere and which anyone can get after a few classes) on state university campus. So any shooter can be taken down more quickly

This was the NRA's tweet a coupe of hours after the news broke

When I can find it I will dig out an article by an American academic about UK gun laws. She argued they should be relaxed on the basis that general gun ownership prevents crime. She tried to back the argument up by throwing in some stats about the UK having higher rates of mugging and burglary than the states. It really was a barking mad argument.

It became "the" rather than "a" after the Meryl Streep TV mini-series of that name.

Not by Winnie Churchill, "an administrative holocaust" is how he documented it, and "Armenian Holocaust" is how it's also known (check out Wiki on it).

Also, the Nazi holocaust hit perhaps 12 million people (total, including gays, Socialists, dissidents, Freemasons, etc.) and the Armenian holocaust is put at around 1.5 million, so around a tenth. More importantly, the size of the Armenian holocaust was proportionate to the Nazi holocaust of the Jews, in each case around half of the total target population was exterminated.

Guns don't kill people, people do .... and more yanks will kill other yanks this year with their guns than will EVER be killed by those evil bastards called Al-Qaeda.

But hey, at least those yanks have consented to have other yanks shoot them dead, so everything's alright.:lol:

Ice T talking about the shootings...

Speaking with Channel 4 London's Krishnan Guru-Murthy in the hours after the Colorado news broke, the self-described "Godfather of Gangsta Rap" vehemently denied a connection between gun rights and the Aurora murders. "It's legal in the United States," the rapper said. "The right to bear arms is because that's the last form of defense against tyranny. Not to hunt. It's to protect yourself from the police." "And do you see any link between that and this sort of instance?" Guru-Murthy challenged. "No. Not really," Ice-T responded. "If somebody wants to kill people, they don't need a gun to do it." "Makes it easier though, doesn't it?" the host pushed back. "Not really. You can strap explosives on your body. They do that all the time." (Mediaite)

Since the interview, Ice has hopped on Twitter to clarify his stance.

"If you go into the jungle.... Will you NOT get eaten because you're a vegan??," he tweeted July 23rd.

""Love me or hate me.... I'll make you think.""

"Right??! >RT @JPFreire: We are at a point now in American politics where (Ice T) says things that resonate with conservatives. #crazytown"

"My comment on guns got a lot of press.. They call me 'Gangster' don't forget 'US Army Vet.' A little gun history >

    • As first timers last year the whole set-up blew our mind with the fire on the Sunday, it seemed you could get too close and I didn’t like dodging falling embers!
    • I'd be absolutely amazed if they went without a female headliner.

    • Kinda sounds like we’re heading towards Fender, Fontaines & Harry however I can’t see them not getting a female headliner so think it’ll be Fender or Fontaines and another. They’ll obviously try for Madonna but they’ve also tried before, really depends on whether she’s bothered about it.
