I have a feeling it won't be Coldplay. I have a feeling it will be someone big and a bit of a surprise, but will probably piss a lot of people off.

If not, then I hope the Pet Shop Boys get bumped across from Saturday... but I reckon stage changes are unlikely. Can't be worse than Werchter a few years back, when Babyshambles pulled out, they were replaced with Air Traffic, who played already on the same stage the day before, with their sub-Keane rubbish.

I dont think it'll be Coldplay or Dizzee thats for sure.

It could be Faithless, with a little bit of re-scheduling.

I was a bit surprised not to see Pixies, Snow Patrol, Red Hot Chili Peppers or Pearl jam in the poll, all those bands are capable of replacing U2

i think they'll be trying to talk Coldplay into it (hell, they were almost certs for next year so i don't see them saying no to doing it a year earlier), and if they do say no, then Dizzee will be bumped up (which, imo, would be embarassing)

:P

OK, so I'm not exactly a huge fan of Coldplay, they're OK and all that although I do really like some of their stuff TBH, but this was the opener for my first ever Pyramid headline experience so still feels like something way more a tad special even now. Love this particular track anyway but every time I hear it, no matter where, it's like I'm stood somewhere in the middle in a certain field somewhat in absolute awe ! Thanks for posting that vid rather than any 1 of dozens of others, kinda made my day :P

Funny how you never forget the choon ya lost your virginity to and all that :P

I have to admit that Coldplay's set in 2005 was actually really good - and I am in no way a Coldplay fan... So I wouldn't be too gutted to see them replace U2, although I am now considering sodding off for Groove Armada instead. :P

Personally, I would like nothing more (if Led Zep is a definite no go) than the Levs to headline friday on the Pyramid, let's go old school!

stop naming crap unrealistic bands...

if they replace U2 with a crappy act for a headliner, they are retards

someone with a reason to play it...

coldplay are a pretty big band, and there seems to be much hype about them, they are an established band, who could pull it off...

other bands have been named, that are unrealisticly small/not good enough to replace U2

the viable replacements mentioned so far, in my opinion are

greenday

coldplay

bon jovi

reshuffling the bands that are already paying, and getting another unnamed band in to cover their position on the bill, is a show of half hearted organisation.. surely they will replace with a backup that isnt on the bill?

i personally wouldnt be suprised if Rage against the machine turned up, as i was expecting to see them on the list anyway.. what with having a recent number 1 single over here??

i dont particually like coldplay, but out of all the other drivel mentioned so far.. id have to vote for them..

i have absolutely no interest whatsoever in seeing any of the "radio one" bands.. biffy, tinchy, dizze, florence etc... they can all go headline radio ones big weekend, but this is frigging glastonbury

as for jay-z wtf? why have headliners the same as last year? you could call it "jay-z- fest" and have it every year if you want?

ac-dc or led zep would be classic... this was supposed to be a special glastonbury year.. why put tripe bands that sell tickets for a £5er in crappy local venues when world class stadium sellout bands are waiting to be enlisted?

yay, i provoked a response from someone who's been using this site for years by the look of it..

excellent constructive answer there...

to what extent did i fail? are bon jovi split up or something? or just not your preference to watch?

im was meaning bands that are big enough in my opinion to replace U2

id rather watch you take a dump than most of the bands listed...

if it was MY festival, id have RUSH headline....

i see from your list of festivals that you're a veteran... any tips for a first timer at glasto?

Wahey! Someone who gets the 'realism' thing. I'm surprised Bon Jovi haven't been mentioned except a quick Google search says they're stinking up the O2 that night

Did you get out of bed on the wrong side this morning?

Cheer up mate. Smile. Try farting - I find that helps.

Anyway, in all seriousness, I don't think it's fair for people to expect a huge name at such short notice. It's a bugger, and I really am gutted U2 aren't playing, but it's no-one's fault. One of those things - a dropped stitch in life's tapestry.

I am a lot calmer today after being in a pretty rotten mood throughout most of yesterday.

i fart in your general direction....

i dont really like U2 much, but if they replace U2 with some tripe thats emerged in the last few years ill be pretty gutted..

a month to organise a gig? any band worth its salt could pull it off, its just a matter of logistics..

i reckon me and langdale should apply to headline

we could fart at each other

that'd be loads better than dizzie rascle or whatever drivel they put up there...

where are greenday that night? or RATM? afterall, they promised gigs here...

are ac-dc around?

some others id love to see... and why not? i mean, most bands would play glasto given the chance:

aerosmith

REM

chilli peppers

whitesnake

beastie boys

eric clapton

G'N'R

KISS (someone mentioned this and got slated for it WTF-- they have more classic songs than anyone)

the who

apologies in advance if any are impossible!
