I know. I'm just relieved I just got to see him on the Reality Tour a few weeks before he had his heart problems. I'd be really annoyed if I'd missed that chance.

yeah just think of all those U2 fans, and there are a lot of them, wandering round the site cluttering up everyone else's headline slots being miserable and grumpy. fantastic news. :P

My money's on Coldplay tbh. They seem a likely choice and I can't see ME pulling a big name headliner out the bag at this short notice (and by big headliner I mean like Rolling Stones, Led Zepp etc)

I'm not a massive U2 fan, but it is a shame they aren't playing now

I am calmer now, and have a shortlist of 3 acts who could *possibly* fill in.

I love them all, but have seen all 3 before (more than once) and all of them at least once at Glasto.

All would cause hundreds of threads of ignorant/disappointed complaints but here we go:

Elbow

Doves

Coldplay.

Either would do a good job. Out of the 3, I'd choose Elbow simply because they'd raise a few albums and make the step up effortlessly. Many people will disagree with that but they'd be wrong.

So there we go. Elbow, Doves or Coldplay. Not as big a draw as U2, but acts I'd DEFINITELY class as must-sees who could pull of a headlining slot.

This is what the bookies say

5/4 Dizzee Rascal

11/8 Coldplay

6/1 Groove Armada

6/1 Faithless

8/1 Florence & The Machine

16/1 Scissor Sisters

40/1 Lily Allen

18/1 Paul McCartney

33/1 Kings of Leon

33/1 Rihanna

33/1 Led Zeppelin

40/1 Kylie

40/1 David Bowie

50/1 Noel Gallagher

66/1 Jay-Z

McCartney don't look a bad shout at 18/1 but realistically it will be one of the top two I'd expect

    • RIP Roy Hattersley
    • Proper special gig tonight. They won't mean much to most people, but The Dogs D'Amour were one of the most significant bands of my youth.   Tyla, yer main man of said band, was playing in Birkenhead tonight. Not many there, but it was going fine. Then he decided he didn't like the smoke and the flashing lights so suggested moving the gig to the beer garden. Off we all went, and it was magical. Like having your favourite musician play in your garden. I absolutely loved it.   Before:     After:
