i love Jack White and I figured he would show up somewhere, since he loves the place and hasn't missed a glasto since they headlined in '05,

but .... for my tastes, The Dead Weather are the weakest of his 3 outfits. I wasn't too impressed with them at the Park and I was expecting something more exciting with the remaining the pyramid 'tbas'.

i think someone else mentioned it earlier, but I guess that means we're not getting Robert Plant, unless he's opening things up saturday. that's a shame...huge shame.

in my opinion one if the weakest acts around last year- utter drivel...very very very weak songs..i'll be honest though and admit that i find jack white an overrated, careerist try-hard arse.. he wrote a song for coca cola - not a good one either....if it wasn't jack white they woudn't have even been signed..can anyway honestly say that they listen to the dead weather album all the way through and think - wow that was amazing?

If you don't like the White Stripes then obviously you aren't going to like JW's other projects which are rooted in the same type of music.

If you love the WS and the Raconteurs though then I don't see how the DW are anything but a disappointment.

He's well within his rights to do whatever he wants but his output is prodigious and I do just feel the quality has dipped on this latest offering whereas everything the WS and Raconteurs did has been great.

Jack coming onto guitar on Will there be enough water is fantastic but that's because it's where he should be, it's like playing Wayne Rooney in goal and then saying how great he is when you put him as a striker again.

I've seen Jack White every time he's played Glastonbury and I haven't particularly enjoyed any of his bands. Raconteurs were probably the best. chances are I'll end up seeing hima again!

True,

But in my opinion if your doing a side project than at least make it a little bit decent, take my band as a bit of a lame example, I got two people who are just viewing it as a side project to their own bands, one of them is in a funk band and the other one is in an indie band. We sound completely different to both of their bands. It's just nice to have a little bit of variation if your doing side projects, rather than just sounding like The White Stripes mark 2 which is basically what The Dead Weather is.

Seriously for people who didn't like the first album, try the second one when it comes out like I said it does sound more like for the most part the new songs are more like Treat Me Like Your Mother and Die By The Drop.

I personally don't think they sound the same at all. You can obviously see it's influences as obviously Jack White sings on the songs and also Alisons style of singing is quite similar to Jack's, but that's just how it is.

Plus also the other two bands he's in aren't about due to the fact that Meg is still having time off after suffering from anxiety and Brendan Benson is currently touring with his solo album again.

i don't get that end bit of what you said. The Dead Weather of course will sound slightly like Stripes since its Jack producing the records but take for example Hang you up from the heavens. It was written by alison and dean and sounds more like a kills song. And at what point does Treat me like your mother sound like anything from the stripes?
