absolutely zero chance of them headlining, or doing any announced set I reckon.

They might do a secret set, but I think that's hugely unlikely too, no matter what they might have said about Glastonbury being their favourite fest. The reform is 100% about money, and you can be damned sure that they'll be contractually tied down more than a whore at an S&M orgy... so if they play Glasto, they'll lose nearly all that money.

Yes, i'm over the moon that they're to play reading & leeds, but the whole Libertines era and that stands so much better in tiny venues across the country so I'm hoping for some secret gigs an the like, just like the rhythm factory reunion last year! Still not going to complain, hoist the sails, the Albion sails again!

I seriously doubt they'd play Glasto though because they'll be tied down by R&L due to how much money they've paid them. I'd love them to do a secret slot, it's possible.

'Shambles have a gap between festivals they're playing on 25th June, and 3rd July so it might make them likely. Mr Barat said to me he'll be doing the rounds for his solo album so if they're both there....

Just like Arcade Fire, anyone wanting to see the Libs will have to do Reading or catch a post-festival tour which I am fairly hopeful will happen for both bands.

Anyone seeing Libs then AF on the Saturday at Reading will be in for the best evening a festival (other than Glastonbury) can provide this summer.

I'm contemplating going to Leeds just for Blink, Libs and Arcade Fire

Has to be said the Saturday line-up at Reading is superb: Arcade Fire, The Libs, Gaslight Anthem, the Cribs. Plus Pendulum and the Maccabees who are both good fun. That will be a cracking day.

Edit: I love how the NME have been advertising the line-up as their exclusive all week only to get beaten by efestivals among many others and still not have it up 20 mins after their promised.

I'm the same; got a day ticket for Leeds on Friday. Not bothered about the festival but the lineup that day looks great. Libertines, arcade fire, cribs, macabees - but really looking forward to seeing modest mouse

Because the libs are supporting could this mean it isn't an exclusive. R/l might av sed wer giv u £-------- to headline but you can't play anywhere else all year! they said no so they could play more make it a proper reunion then r/l said ok we still want you to play so wer give u this much to support AF and you can play wer u like. THE LIBERTINES came to prominence at the onset of the noughties and it’s fitting that this year’s Reading and Leeds Festival will see in the new decade with a performance from one the most important British bands of the past twenty years. The Libertines are to reform after years of speculation to play Reading and Leeds Festival as the original four-piece with duel vocalists and guitarists Carl Barat and Peter Doherty, drummer Gary Powell and bassist John Hassall. The band gave the world a kick in the proverbials, they played their own game, their own way, by their own rules and consequently paved the way for plenty of imitators but never equals. They split in 2004 and Carl Barat went off and formed Dirty Pretty Things with Peter Doherty doing likewise with his Babyshambles ensemble. These, their Only Shows Worldwide are unmissable for any music fan.

I've gone for a Friday ticket for Leeds aswell.

With Arcade Fire and Libertines being the draw.

Was originally going for a weekend ticket as want to see Queens of Stone Age aswell, but outside of them there wasn't too much I won't see elsewhere during the year.

Plus couldn't get a sniff at getting the weekend tickets and hadn't convinced anyone to go yet, so day tickets were the way I've gone.

Ah - fair enough.

I suppose I just don't 'get' them. Never liked them. And I think Doherty has the stage presence of a mouldy plimsol.

Bung some Blues on at Jazzworld at the same time and we'll all be happy.
