I think he's great. I like his new album too. I'd definitely watch him - sober or not!!

His drummer is nuts too. I saw him at the NIA a couple of years ago and during Please Forgive Me, he went postal. Brilliant to watch.

I do like a good mental drummer. The drummer for Delphic manages to have the strongest stage presence in the group from behind the kit, which I approve of. That said, the rest of them just stand there bouncing a leg or tapping a foot so the competition is weak.

David Gray's new album pretty good then? I do like his stuff usually when I'm in a chill mood, but the new songs he played on Jools last year seemed a bit, well, samey.

I like it, but then again, I liked A New Day At Midnight and Life In Slow Motion. It's not much different to those to be honest, but the new one does close with Full Steam - a duet with Annie Lennox - which I love.

I've always liked him, and knew of his stuff before White Ladder. He'll never beat Shine - great song.

Agree that he's not exactly Jazzworld material, but I hope he's on the bill somewhere.

I enjoyed the 2003 set aswell playing a festival length set, but saw him again in Bournemouth few years back purely because Rod y Gab were support.

Really not the best idea to get a support band that will blow the main act away completely. Got bored after 45mins or so in the Gray gig.

Faithless have played there , what are they ?

Streets as well !

:P

Both have a sound that's grown out of jazz.

Unlike David Gray, Noel Gallagher and all the other very weird suggestions that some have made for Jazzworld this year. :P

But anyway, I didn't myself go with "are they jazz, are they world?" idea, I merely suggested that a quick look at any Jazzworld line-up should tell any person with a modicum of musical knowledge that the likes of David Gray is very unlikely to be seen on that stage.

I saw 3 acts on Jazz/World last year:

Rolf Harris

Roots Manuva

Speed Caravan.

Quite varied, but I can see some commonality between them and agree that David Gray doesn't share the same vibe.
