Flares

watching some football games recently I have noticed on a couple of occasions that fans are taking flares to games (tho these are not strictly allowed in grounds) have people ever taken flares to glasto?

I think they'd look fantastic in a crowd situation at a festival.

and I'm not reffering to certain 70's clothing :P

Agreed. They look good. But can be dangerous. A girl I know got a nasty burn on her leg after one was thrown by someone in a crowd she was in. It wasn't at a music festival, but still...just keep your wits about you if you happen to be near it.

They are very much included in the banned items list but the odd one still gets through. They do look ace but I've luckily never been very close to one.

Flares do look amazing when you're at the other end of the field and the wind is blowing the smoke the other way!!

These terrify me! I spent the whole time that the ones during Springstein, Blur and Kasabian thinking oh my god I am so glad I am not stading next to that!! Honestly they terrify me completely!! :P:P I have to admit that also, as pretty at the sky lanterns are, these also terrify me! I think it is the fire more than anything else - that and I am a big scaredy cat!! :P:P

I remember enjoying Kasabian last year pretty much because

a) I was hammered for Brooooooooce and had lost leave of my senses

and :P someone shot off a flare from a flare gun at the precise moment of the "ooooooosssssh" in Club Foot and I stood there in awe thinking "That is GENIUS"

But yeah, wouldn't want to be anywhere near one ta

    • Another one from Sheffield DocFest this weekend, Earth Wind & Fire docu, directed by Questlove. Sensational archive footage, contributions from band members, family, plus a lot of very big fans (Stevie, Lionel, Flea, the Obamas) and a warts n all assessment of the genius / flawed human being that was Maurice White. Also, I never realised he started out as a jazz drummer with Ramsay Lewis. Well worth a watch.
    • In a 6,800-word Substack essay, external, the Clacton MP said "anti-white racism was embedded into the state", and that legislation aimed at equality was a form of "social cleansing"   .https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cdjkd4mp93zo   The privileged white c**t hasn’t got a clue what racism is.
