Gaga or no Gaga?

Agree with the fact she is just a fad, and one I can't wait to end. She really is utter tripe.

But, she does spin a good media tale, and whoever managers her ought to win an award for marketing.

But that ol' defense of "Oh shut up, she's amazing, she's such a good songwriter, she's a girl and look how big she's become?!" just doesn't work with me.

'cause her songs are shit. That's the reason right there, folks.

Just wait. I give her... Hmm... 1 more year before everyone gets bored of "OO-LA-OO-GAGA" and moves onto something else.

It all happens in cycles. Look at Kings of Leon, The Killers, Arctic Monkeys; all too big, too soon, people jizzin' their pants sayin how 'mazin they were. Now noone could care less if they retired.

I've started my countdown to the Gaga downfall, have you? :P

That's a matter of opinion and, therefore, irrelevant to this conversation. Fact is, the girl writes the mass majority of her own tunes, she does offer something different in today's pop scene even if not in the grand scheme of things, she can sing really well live and she's also proven her merit by writing some huge pop tunes for other acts.

As someone else pointed out, the difference between a pop star like her and your Westlifes and your Cheryl Coles is huge.

Yes they have all stopped selling out arenas, headlining festivals, being played on radio. haven't they? I mean for god sakes look how fast KoL sold out Hyde park. So yeah I do think people would care if they retired. On Gaga you can hope and think shes fad, but when you write your own good pop songs (and lets not forget what makes a good pop song, that is that it has mass appeal) that has a broader than usual appeal for pop acts these days then yeah course its just a fad l)

After watching her on Jonathan Ross and knowing which of my acquaintances went to see her on this most recent tour I think it's just a case of The Emperor's New Clothes. However, I think she's got 2/3 from top on the Pyramid all over her just for the spectacle. I could imagine U2 to like the idea of her playing just before them - there is no logic behind that.

Whats all this about Lady Gaga, shes a load of shite. Anyone that uses a voice enhancer when they are singing should be shot with a ball of their own shite, it usually means they have a crap singing voice in first place.

Ha! I like it! Apart fom the Virgin Mobile thing which was odd.......anyway, chicks in prison having chick fights and all the stop motion (is that what you call it?) beyonce dancing - and man, how gorgeous does Bouncy look with a fringe and yellow eyeshadow? Although I wish gaga would wear some clothes sometimes, we know you have a tidy body lass, no need to always be flashing your gyny bits around

It's pop music. It's not the best pop music ever - doubt it will have any longevity but it's of its time and it's entertaining. I like Gaga :P wouldnt want to see her at Glastonbury but she's ok. A lot better than a lot of the dross out there

Well I quite enjoyed it - she's bloody crackers but she can write a catchy pop tune and I like a good boogie to her stuff.

She is a POP act like her or hate her she's as much a right to clog up the charts as anybody - why take her so seriously?

I hope she stays around - it's murder getting a decent pop tune these days

    • Remain self-imposed on not going north of a hundred, but... we're getting to the point now where the starting gun will be above that for some acts.
    • I'm finding the lower line up a little impenetrable this year   Any thoughts on heavier bands a la Slift a few years ago?
