Seriously Ted, I wish you well with whatever they do. My dad had a quadruple heart by pass many years ago and is still soldiering on strong. It's amazing what they can do nowadays.

Your kind words are much appreciated Yogurt. And back to you as I know you have had your own health "issues".

At least I'll be under and wont know anything about it if they cant get the engine going again - although its a fairly routine thing so hopefully there's little chance of that.

Got another couple of little robotics bits up and running. Still very early steps at the min, but I've gone from novice to this in a couple of months. This is a robotic arm controlled by me on my PC (modified it from the included remote control)

Not much, but I'm properly chuffed to get this far! I've also got a little object avoiding/line following robot project on the go too which avoids objects nicely but doesn't follow a line yet!

(Please excuse the crappy video!)

Unfortunately I have run out of up votes.. Stay at the bending edge and you'll find success. Good luck,

Congrats on your dedication paying off :) I'm hoping to get some arduino stuff to play with in the future (other financial priorities mean it's a bit of a pipe dream still) as I've wanted to mess with automation/robotics since I was a kid. Keep at it :)

Good stuff.

Since the dawn of time mankind has dreamed of being subjugated by robotic overlords and I feel we are now one step closer in this vital task.

is that built on a Pi, or re you doing it direct thru the PC's serial or parallel port?

It's an arduino being controlled directly through PC serial port. :)

Since that vid was taken I've got the elbow and wrist joints working too.

Next step is to add some feedback so the arm knows where it is and then I can set some maximum limits of movement. It's currently relying on me hitting the stop key!

It'll also allow me to automate it (script it so it continually repeats an action such as moving a cup from one place to another or sorting things)

do you have an end purpose, or are you doing it just cos you can?

(just being interestedly nosey, the sort of thing I'd love to do but I'd need to find a reason to do).
