great incentive! are you going this year? is it easy to get on a train and find the station where the festival is?

Train/bus travel if free from anywhere in Belgium to the festival, once you have your weekend ticket:)

Easy enough to get to, direct train from Brussels and then either walk to the campsites or get a shuttle bus for 5min.

I know it's early days yet, and there are a lot of names to be added, but I'm actually a bit disappointed with that lot, especially when we've been expecting them to pull the stops out for the 25th edition.

Bands like the Prodigy, Goldfrapp, Flaming Lips and Placebo seem to show up every year, and 2ManyDJs/Soulwax do show up every year, so there aren't many surprises.

Apart from Iron Maiden, but I am about as unexcited by that prospect as I was by Metallica two years ago.

Mumford & Sons and Hot Chip on the other hand...

Hopefully there will be better to come in the next few weeks.

good first start, is that the headliners done then? gotta say i have zero interest in maiden so lets hope someone fun's on at the same time, will keep an eye on pukkelpop though, v's tempting me with it's lineup but the weather is usually awful, plus i don't like the way everything closes at 11 over there.

oh and are placebo headlining again? can't complain with flaming lips, perfect festival band!

repeat headliners is a bit boring (love placebo and all but we know what they're like with pushing a new album and this one aint that great).

Also doves just got a hell of a lot less likely, headlining green man friday and v sat and sunday, which leaves thursday free for them, but four gigs in four days would be pushing it!

Iron Maiden are headlining Thursday - says on efestivals news page

The Prodigy are headlining Friday - They confirmed this themselvces [The Prodigy] Today

Im not sure who Saturday headliner is...

I want to know what days Digitalism and Hot Chip are playing so I can rule them out of V or not...

Hope The Prodigy aren't too knackered for V after headlining on Friday, I was hoping they'd be well up for it at V bvut I'll bet they'll just go through the motions now :P

de jeugd van tegenwoordig

Although none of them are my cup of tea, the line up so far on Thursday on the Main Stage is arguably as strong as you'll see at any festival - Blink 182 followed by Placebo and then Iron Maiden :P Queens of the Stone Age are headlining Saturday but I'm sure they'll bulk it up with some other big names. I like the fact that the organisers seem to have gone for a number of relatively big bands rather than a couple of mega headliners, although I suppose you could put Iron Maiden in that bracket. I thought the overall quality of the festival bill was diminished in 2008 when Metallica played as they must have cost a packet. I'd much rather see a strong bill across all the stages and this first announcement has an excellent mix of new and established acts across loads of genres.

I'm personally very happy to see 2manydjs, Soulwax, Pendulum, Mumford and Sons, Goldfrapp, White Lies, Major Lazer, Plastikman, Hot Chip, Digitalism, Magnetic Man, Noisia, Four Tet, Nero, Martyn, High Contrast, Caspa, Joker, Aeroplane, Two Door Cinema Club, Riva Starr and Ou Est Le Swimming Pool on the bill. Oh, and of course the Prodigy :P

There's still over 140 bands/DJs to come yet so it's shaping up to be a memorable 25th birthday party :P

You can make pukkelpop.be into an english site by clicking 'EN' in the top right-hand corner. And there are booking sites in english too.

I'm loving the line-up so far; fair few bands I wanted to see plus some old favourites; I get the feeling this year will be loads of fun for me because a lot of my friends are going too. My boyfriend dislikes the lineup though, and doesn't want to go. Ah well, will have to have fun without him this year. I'm 99% certain I'm going at this stage :P

so who's definately going to this? iam. i would like to meet some faces from here as i'm doing this extra trip on my lonesome.

Jónsi is also playing on the Saturday. (In case anyone hadn't realised, he's the leader of Sigur Ros, playing solo...)

I actually thought the 2008 line-up was as good of any of the 7 previous Pukkelpops that I've been to (apart from Metallica, who I could have done without - they nearly drowned out Tindersticks' set). I thought it was as good as the 20th edition (2005), and perhaps only slightly overshadowed by 1991 - but that was a different era: one stage, one day only, so of course all the names are going to be concentrated.

Hmm, I'm not overly excited about the line up on that first announcement - none of the headliners really appeal, but I'm guessing this is about 20% of the finished article? Line up is not too important to me as it is, but I sense it might be hard to get my mates to go on the basis of this line up alone...will it sell out quickly, or will there be more bands announced before the sale date?

    • Yet again we’re missing the WH Sunday reggae slot
    • Occident has got larger over the years and there's relatively little overlap with mbv and OR fans that I think it would work fine as it would divide the crowd so effectively.   They don't even need to give the biggest stage from an optics perspective either, this would be billed as a secret short set and used to promote her new album.
    • Really like this! Few artists a bit low I reckon like the Reytons, Yard Act, the Royston Club and Florence Road but I’d absolutely take this!
    • Yeah Olivia Rodrigo walked right past me when leaving the crowd during The Cure set.   I had to escape where I was in the crowd so was just chilling in the bottom left corner when she walked through with a couple of others.    Thought it was her or someone who looked incredibly like her but no-one else seemed to pick up on it, either not bothered or just too engrossed in their own conversations to not notice..
    • Why?   It’s all made up nonsense, an illusion for the masses.   Who do we owe these numbers on a server to, and how will they collect them?
