The Beatles are overrated. Why the fuss?

I'm sure i will get many a rolling eye and "LOL" at saying it, but the Beatles are in no way as good as people make out. They were a boyband, who became a bit pretentious and then split up and died. Then McCartney released a load of dissapointing albums, and is a very horrible little man.

I have never, and will never get the fuss about the Beatles.

maybe I'm over exaggerating but still.

If you judge The Beatles today you could say that some of it is basic 3 chord stuff, you could say that it's over-rated and you cold say that they were at least in part a heavily manufactured and managed "boy band". However if you look back to the music industry generally, what other shit was popular music at the time and the way in which they were promoted, managed etc. then you'll realise that they were in fact revolutionary.

And I defy anyone to say that Lennon & McCartney weren't a great writing team. Their stuff post Beatles never really ignited me (apart from Live & Let Die by Wings = Awesome) but they crafted some very clever and wonderful songs.
