Didn't Yes play on there a few years ago?

If so my three would be Rush, M.I.A, Public Enemy.

Yes, Yes played on that stage ... so it was renamed 'One World Stage' for just that year. It was a one off really, so I don't think it's too likely that a similar thing will be done again.

Would be immense but I just can't see any former members of the Dead coming to Europe for Glastonbury anytime soon. That said, I did recently finish reading Phil Lesh's autobiography and he states that he did stay behind in England when they came over one year to check out Stonehenge etc and also discuss the possibility of appearing at the festival but sadly it never happened. I think he'd be up for it, maybe the Furthur project that he and Bob Weir are involved in could come. There's a free soundboard recording of them to download at bt.etree.org.

I thought the atmos was also dreadful. One silly tune with a catchy enough riff = excellent gig?

You really are a contrary old git Neil.

What's contrary about knowing a great atmosphere when there is one?

It's a right shame that a certain headliner didn't manage to get anywhere close to it. If he had, then the poor opinions left on so many quite possibly wouldn't be there. :)

One song excuses a load of old cobblers? Feck off.

They were about as appealing as swine flu.

- - -

Neil you won't be able to dig out any quotes from me that put the show that we won't mention in truly exhalted terms. It was a forgettable enough gig from the man. Just not nearly as bad as you made it out to be.

You thought FLC/the atmos/whatever at JW in 2008 was "excellent". Each to their own I guess. I though it was complete shit. Compared to Eddy Grant, the atmos was anything but "excellent".

Step away from the semantics Neil... Let it go.

I agree, they're far from appealing overall; they're one of the most boring live acts there is.

All the same, I knew it would kick off for Scooby Snacks and it very definitely did. And as I was nearby when they started playing I decided to see them for the enjoyment of just that.

FLC got the same atmosphere for that one song that Eddy got for about half his set - you know, the half where people could only enjoy what was superb thru-out only because they knew the songs. But sadly, Eddy didn't hit the same heights as he did at Glasto in his other shows I saw that that summer.

It seems that I'm able to approach shows with an open mind and enjoy them (or not) for what they are, unlike those who have pre-decided that FLC can never have anything enjoyable about them. :)

Now if we're talking GREAT Jazzworld acts, how about:

John Fogarty/Rodrigo y Gabriela (2007)

Buddy Guy (2008)

Loved these.

I thought FLC were great in 08 - mind you i was right at the front in a haze of green cloud for the whole set!

Top 3 for the Jazz that I would love to see would be Manu Chao, The Cinematic Orchestra and The Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain

I've thought of a great act who I'd love to see at Jazzworld - John Butler Trio.
