Just wondering who people think we should have in the Sunday afternoon slot. I thought this year Tom jones was one of the highlights of my Glastonbury,

Personally I would love to see Rod Stewart doing it, Maggie May on a sunday afternoon would be great

he was AWFUL when he played in 2002 (or was it 2003?).

But he - or rather his manager or someone to do with his manager - gave me a huge number of laughs before the fest, making posts pretending to be lots of different people who all thought Rod would be fantastic. Now I think about it, I'm not sure that anyone else posted anything similar.

2002 it was. Did you actually watch him Neil? I watched Roger Walters, and cleared off after that.

Beforehand I planned to give Rod three songs before deciding whether to watch any more, as (much with Bruce this year) I didn't think I'd ever be somewhere to see him again.

But after two dreadful songs he then said for the third "I dedicate this one to our boys fighting overseas" or something. I legged it (and amusingly enough, bumped into friends doing the exact same for the exact same reason :().

James Brown was pretty good back in whenever...

I vote Dolly and Stevie! Its about time...we've been waiting waaaaaaay too long for this event to happen.

With Prince to headline!

What about some other soul legends before they shuffle off this mortal coil like Smokey or Aretha?

Sunday afternoon slots have to be filled by warm 'cuddly' types who give everyone a nice warm feeling, so it has to be one of the following for me (who haven't played before):

Sammy Davis Jr,

Des O' Connor,

The Wombles,

Diana Ross,

David Cassidy / The Partridge Family,

Barry Manilow,

Donny Osmond / The Osmonds

Jackson 4 (if they're on the cash in trail)

Cliff Richard / The Shadows,

Bucks Fizz,

Brotherhood of Man,

Hollies,

Gerry and the Pacemakers

etc......

You get my drift.....

Dolly Parton and Stevie Wonder are both arena-filling major artists not Sunday afternoon "lets have a singalong" acts.

Glenn Campbell would be fantastic though.

    • Audrey Hobert getting a lot of traction lately and new single on Friday. Wonder if she could be round next summer.
    • Think Pulp are optimistic, not in terms of size but just that they've been on the road (albeit not intensively) for 3 years in a row and it feels like EotR is the deliberate end of the cycle.   Would be fairly surprised if they're active next year.
    • 👍 plus they brought their own screens 📺 either side of the stage.
    • Production was the only thing that could even explain why she would back out. Like they had sorted out the financials and she was fine with it and then a production meeting happened. It all fell apart. It was very clear that she was not going to compromise her show one bit and then that show in Brazil pretty much confirmed it. There was like one element they couldnt pull off outdoors, but it was negligible since the rest was a carbon copy of the tour she had been on. Glasto is not willing to make any bold changes on the Pyramid stage so then theyre kinda stuck in terms of what some acts want/demand. I think the easiest solution to that is putting her on Friday. You deal with the changes for one night and then re configure for the rest of the weekend. In 24 they were fortunate to have had Dua and Coldplay on Fri and Sat so they could both use the b stage. But I think it was removed for Sunday?     I saw a random rag article earlier that said Olivia Dean turned down Glasto BECAUSE her ex ( not even confirmed dating ) Harry Styles was playing the fest. hahahaha
