The Stones just got lucky and were talented, nothing wrong with getting rich. They haven't exploited anyone to their detriment.

Where would they fit into this? Nowhere. They're not the biggest corporate whores in the industry. Some stars are content with much less. The Stones are a fecking corporation whose goal is to exist to maximise profits. End of. They belong at Glastonbury the same way that George W Bush does.

They started out as a bunch of talented kids with an idea of what music sounded good, same as every other half decent band. They are now very rich. Whores is harsh, they've only ever done what they've done, they're just extremely successful.

They did. And for the best part of a decade made some of the best music ever recorded. Absolutely phenominal band at their peak in the 60s. Then Brian Jones died and Jagger's London School of Economics education took over. For more than 30 years they have been amongst the greediest bastards on this planet.

The stones early stuff is very good I for one would definitely watch them. I agree they are greedy b******s but imagine Sympathy for the Devil , Paint it Black , Play with Fire , Jumpin Jack Flash etc etc on the Pyramid. It would be amazing.

like them or not, they're a huge name, pretty much the biggest name in music, and that's what's required of headliners. If GFL could get them, it'd be a huge coup, regardless of your personal antipathy towards them.

Must admit when Eavis said there were bands that hadn't played I was thinking, Stones, U2, Floyd (though can't see them playing again since Richard Wright's tragic death and TBH not sure if they played in the 70's). How about Dylan?

I wouldn't object to them or U2 provided they tailored their setup to the Glasto vibe. Those massive sets they have on tour just wouldn't fit (metaphorically, as well as physically.). A well-honed production of their classic numbers would be fine, but leave the egos at the gate.

I saw them play the isle of wight festival in 2007 and, sadly, it was awful. I love the stones but I wish I had not seen this gig. Massive let down.
