For some people it does almost seem like a religious infatuation, Doves fans perhaps will say "each to their own mate, can understand why not everyone would like them but give them a go live if you change your mind" Whereas many boss fans seem completely unable to digest the information that I have no wish to be anywhere near the pyramid when he comes on and argue vehemently in favour of seeing him even though I don't like his music.

Out of all the people I know who are Springsteen fans, they all generally have a shit taste in music.

Some of my mates are going for half an hour "just so I can say I've seen him" is their logic?

why do you want to be able to tell people you've seen somebody if you normally think he's shit?

internet music shop.... Springsteen, people who have bought this album have also bought-

Neil Young...............tells you something

the smiths

Tom Waits

Fleetwood Mac

lily allen

lady gaga

duffy

Glasvegas

U2..................think i'll stop there as its getting worse.

my theories on Bruce are similar to U2 and The Clash - they were just very good at what they did and became massive because of it. Which puts a lot of 'trendy' music fans off, i dont give a flying fu** whats trendy or not. U2 were a new wave band whose influences among many others were joy division and siouxse and the banshees. To many they are a stadium rock band but to me they are bunch of guys that met a school and put a band together - Paul the lead singer then wrote a lot of songs about the death of his mother. Bruce came out of the folk tradition and if he had not got massive would probably playing the acoustic tent. He put together a band of the most talented musicians he could find which made Rock and Roll sound like an orchestra - if that is bombastic who cares? The Clash where the best band from the punk generation because they varied their sound to all manners of styles including soul, jazz, reggae, dub, gospel and disco and wrote songs about all subjects under the sun - Strummer once said if you dont like Springsteen you dont like music and i would put the following under the same banner - Guthrie - Dylan - Bowie - Young - Reed - Hendrix - Marley - Elbow - Doves - Bragg

yeh maybe but then again everyones canon is different, i once served mr doherty in a paddington off-license in about 2005 - he really is quite tall and bought stella. I prefer carl barat but would happily watch either, preferably together - was dissapointed in babyshambles live, thought DPT where better but not as good at the libertines rather like strummer/jones or lennon/mccartney

    • Tonight was a disgrace. There wasn't *that* much rain, and it wasn’t *that* windy. A festival of this size should be able to withstand some adverse weather without it bringing the whole circus to a standstill. And if it is true that part of a speaker on the Revolut stage fell…   As for the communication - announcing Massive Attack were playing at 12:30 and then nothing for over an hour while people waited in the rain. It’s laughable it really is.   If I said I’ll never come back again I’d be lying. The shambles of Barcelona 2022 and the disgrace of Madrid 2023 didn’t stop me, so this probably won’t either.   This festival gets so much wrong, but it is always saved by having such killer line-ups. It’s just a shame it treats the fans/customers/consumers like animals. Compare it to somewhere like Glastonbury and it’s worlds apart.
    • Yeah, I admit that a small part of me felt relieved when they announced that MA are canceled.. But on the positive side- got to see Florence Road afterall, and they were great
    • Glad I could take the €3 bus to Playa Catalunya! Hope y'all warm and dry up.
