WEATHER 2009 !

I, of course, have been tuning in to the South West local news with a fervour hitherto unseen in the dj267 household, as most of the weather forecasts have now turned glastonbury-specific

Friday still seemse very much to be THE CHANCE of showers; they seem to think there'll be small pockets somewhere in the area, without knowing exactly where they'll be.

As someone else said, fingers crossed we'll dodge the bullet.........

So after 6 months of intense weather debate we find ourselves 24 hours before the gates open.....& we're none the wiser of what's exactly going to happen  Love it!

We were fortunate last year that is was on thursday/friday, as there were no acts on, and no 1000's of feet churning up the mud as the rain fell near the main stages. Rain on a friday night = big muddy field (and a walk to the car for a chair!)

Ah heck why not...

Metoffice 5 day for Yeovilton below

http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/uk/sw/...st_weather.html

They're putting the worst risk of showers for Thurs morning?! But apart from a risk of a light shower on sat, otherwise its sunny...

So looks like we get to play the wonderful game called Glastonbury Weather Russian Roulette... Spin the weather system and pull the trigger, do ya feel lucky punk?!

I think I need to go for a lie down in a field with a cider.... Oh hang on...!

I work outdoors a lot and have to rely quite heavily on weather forecasts. In my experience, the BBC (online at least) is pretty unreliable. It's often internally contradictory too, quite often you will see a big sun on the overall day forecast, then go to the more detailed one which tells you that it's going to piss it down all day!

    • On the Wet Leg crowd - the opening day always has the worst crowd of the festival. A lot of locals show up purely because it's a cheap evening, often with not much interest in the acts performing, so, while the talking is an issue throughout the festival (and increasingly at gigs/fests everywhere) it's particularly rough on the Wednesday every year. I'll only bother next year if I really like the act playing.  The wristband is basically a souvenir these days, which I like, as I keep them. Also I guess for the festival it's kind of cheap advertising as people walk around the city with them on.
    • Hoping the day splits will be included with whatever the secret is.
    • They will search bags going from the campsite into the festival site. How thoroughly they do that varies greatly from one security person to the next. If they find any cans they probably won't confiscate them, but more likely they'll offer you the option of drinking them there and then or taking them back to the campsite
