B)

Who cares who is bigger, sells more records, should or shouldn't headline, none of them will be headliners at this years Reading and Leeds.

The Cure are just an overrated band

Morrissey is just an overrated solo artist

The Smiths are just an overated band

Its time to get back to the original conversation.

Leeds Fri - MCR or Muse (new album out in September) or AC/DC or Green Day or Radiohead.

Sat - Arctic Monkeys

Sun - KOL

B) We weren't debating whether The Cure should headline, we were debating whether they could headline, and the reasons why (in my opinion) they couldn't headline. So therfore who is bigger and sells more records is obviously important as to whether a band headlines or not.

Your prediction is not very specific is it, anyone could just list 7 bands as a guess. Muse don't have a new album out till next year though.

I agree there may be some interest but i would say its "2nd headliner" not "1st healdiner interest". I think there is an assumption that a reunion automatically means a move up the bill but the likes of blink 182 and soad are probably stuck in that 2nd slot no matter how long they are gone.

SOAD probably, but I think a Blink reunion would get much more publicity. I think if they came back with a succesful tour and album they will headline.

I think that info is wrong or outdated. As far as I'm aware they have said they will not be playing shows this year nor will the album be out until early next year. I certainly haven't seen them in any 2009 big album previews on websites or in magazines. Besides I think they will do Glasto or Download before they head back to Reading and Leeds.

With news that Muse will release a new record in September i reckon they could be good headliners alongside Green Day and Arctic Monkeys. The days might in that case look something like this:

FRIDAY-

Green Day

Blink 182

Placebo

SATURDAY

Arctic Monkeys

Franz Ferdinand

Yeah Yeah Yeahs

Elbow

SUNDAY

Muse

Slipknot

Stone Temple Pilots

Mastadon

Lamb Of God

Just an idea tho! :O

Not sure if you were being sarcastic, but I totally agree with you if you weren't.

It seems so many people on these forums are massive metal fans, and the whole forum would go berserk if that were to actually be the line up. However I bet it would still sell just as well (and be better, having a Sunday not full of the same band under different names would be just dandy)

    • Really well done, Primavera. Maybe the biggest name on the lineup as a surprise. (Ecpecially if Robert joins this)
    • There's one way it can get bigger- if Robert Smith joins her on stage
