I hadn't heard the rumour at all, and a friend had seen Chris Martin backstage so when he said there was a second surprise, I thought I knew who it would be (and my expectations were set accordingly). When he said "east coast" I didn't even click then. When he said "from New Jersey".. I lost it. I just lost it. I was on my own, and I had a little breakdown. Crying. Shaking. The whole shebang. I had so many messages come through (once I had signal again) from family and friends at home wanting to check I hadn't just flat out expired. I have been surprise-guest-appearanced by Bruce twice now. Once was at a Gaslight Anthem show in Asbury Park, NJ. That was a shock but not out-of-the-realm-of-possibility insane. This took the cake.

I had a twinge of sore throat before going - did a test which was negative, put it down to having seen my Mum who was full of also non-covid cold. Think the excitement and activity of the festival managed to stave it off, but after all of the singing and chatting and shouting and screaming the sore throat was ANGRY by yesterday afternoon. Today I woke up in my tent feeling absolutely rotten - if this were a work day, I wouldn't be going to work - put it that way. Did a test once home and still negative. Think it is the same cold I'd staved off finally caught up with me once I was completely exhausted. So glad I have tomorrow off work to just veg - I am feeling very rough. Although last night as I walked back to my tent, the sounds of the awful coughs coming from every direction did feel like an omen of this thread to come!

I've been thinking about this since the thread was first posted and I genuinely can't do just 3. In no particular order: Sam Fender Billie Eilish Macca Kendrick Olivia Rodrigo Honourable mentions to Kacey Musgraves, Self Esteem and Ziggy Marley (in particular, the joy I experienced in that crowd watching him, finally back infront of the Pyramid stage, was off the charts).

150k Weds to today. That's a big step up for me (pun intended) and my legs and feet are angry at me.

Rhubarb the only way for me. Delish.

Worst: Noodle King, by San Remo. I was desperate and decided I really fancied some noodles. Ordered 'special veg' - there was no veg, and the noodles were cold. Thankfully it was only a fiver. Best: Crumble Shack.

The best one I got during Macca's set. Moved around a bit as I was on my own for the last third or so, and the vibe was great everywhere I landed. Such a special gig for me and this is the photo that I will keep from it.

The only other time I had a crowd-panic moment (cause of my own issues with crowds) was leaving Adele in 2016, and that was because of the added mud element slowing everyone down. I felt panicked yesterday leaving Crowded House - I was right down the front and as people were moving in for Wolf Alice, everyone just kept stopping still. I had no idea how far I was from the crowd thinning out, and people were pushing and generally not being cool about the situation. I can't imagine how bad the Arcadia/Park situation was. Tried meeting friends for TLC and aborted mission, despite being in the field close to our meet spot, because it got too insane. Luckily caught the friend coming in as I was leaving and we just left via the quietest route and went and had a lovely drink and a chat. I don't go in too much for the late night dance stuff, and I think after Macca tonight I'm just going to call it a night. The prospect of the crowd for Calvin at Arcadia seems like a genuine nightmare to me now.

Out of office is on, and I am off 😄

So much and not enough. Gone on last minute supply runs twice today, nipping out from work. Still in work until 8pm. Still to pack the majority. Aaaaaahhhh.

I'm still working today - my long day too, from 9am to 8pm. Still got packing to do when I get home so it's just as well that I'll be too excited to sleep tonight!

Question about phone charging - sorry if it's a stupid one. I typically use my Pixel 6's adaptive charging' function. I understand that this is good for the phone's battery, but is it sensible or stupid for charging from a battery pack? Wondering whether to turn the setting off for when I'm using my Anker at the fest.

Friend at the environment agency just gave me their forecast, and pretty much lines up with what is being shared here. No fears of a deluge anywhere, but showers dotted about toward the end of the week.

There's an article about this on the Guardian site now, and likely been picked up elsewhere. Less than £1000 to get to the target now which should be easily met - really hope it comes together and he's able to make it.

Gotten about half packed. Sorted things that need washing tomorrow. Made a list of last bits that I can buy tomorrow and Tuesday.

My parents are visiting for the night so we watched the BBC show - I cried just watching Hey Jude and anticipating next week. Paul McCartney. A Beatle. A presence throughout the whole of my life... in my favourite place. I am just.. there are no words.

At a wedding today that was graced by the brilliant New York Brass Band - so got to have a practice dance with them, ahead of all their sets next week. They also did a handy demonstration of the Upside Down dance, so got a rehearsal of that in too.

I had my outfit for Diana sorted in my head from the moment she was announced. High waisted, wide-leg crepe yellow trousers - deep-v black bodysuit - floral patterned yellow kimono over the top. Bodysuit is liable to be swapped out depending on the weather conditions:hassle for peeing ratio.

Started piling things on the dining room table. Got the power bank re-charging.

Itching for my workday to finish so I can get home and check my bag/list for hopefully the final time 😬
