  1. Normally I'm not bothered by clashes, but Beth Orton and Gwenno is well annoying, gonna have to flip a coin on the day I think.
  2. ooooooooooooooooooh, got my dispatch email 😄 anxiety kicking in that the postie will lose it / post it to the wrong house etc etc 😄
  3. Theres often jazz on at The Bandstand in the market area, stoped and listended a few times, though couldn't tewll you any names 🙂
  4. yeah, I live relativly close to the festival site, usually takes me an hour and a bit in festival traffic, that year took me nearly nine hours from setting off to parking up
  5. 2016 was so bad that I and pretty much everyone else, got towed -in- to East Camper.
  6. check the maps very cafefully though - if you get off the motorway and go down the Portway and head to Weston super Mare, you will go though a tiny corner of the CAZ, and have to pay if your car isn't compliant. It is 100% there to be a money spinner, no other reason.
  7. I put them on ignore years ago, this thread is much better withoutn their shitposting 🙂
  8. The 'festival goer' that died was a friend of mine who was hitchhiking to the festival with another guy, they were both hit by a van, and the driver didn't stop as he'd be drinking. My friend, Byron, died and the other guy, who I didn't know, died sevral months later from his injuries. His funeral was the first one I'd been to that wasn't an elderly relative. Dont drink and drive please.

    Stone Circle

yeah, the 'proper' name is the Swan Stone Circle: https://www.megalithic.co.uk/article.php?sid=45067
  10. Your friend missed out, it was blinding, sorry
  11. All mine have had to be signed for, if I wasn't in, they have gone to the local office for collection, unless this is the coach tickets?
  12. just use empty tonic water etc bottles - they are built to resist pressurised contents, so will easily cope with some rum.

    Stone Circle

yeah, 1992: https://guerillaarchaeology.com/festival-archaeologyarchaeology-of-festivals/monument-making-the-glastonbury-stone-circle/ though there were others on site earlier. more info: https://www.ivanmcbeth.com/stone_circles_i_built.html I enjoy sitting and listening to people being amazed that they can 'feel the thousands of years of energy' from the 'ancient circle' that I've seen pics of being built with JCBs 🙂 edit: thats not to say that if it's still there in a few thousand years it won't feel differentt - I'm a keen dolemen/menhir/circle spotter and there is something interesting about standing in/on/under an arrangement of stones that people long dead built 4000+ years ago, and wondering why.

    Maceo's

I guess I met a jobsworth when I tried - they guy was very polite but wouldn't let me in with my T&C band.
  15. I miss the original Mr Toastie caravan stall tat used to be near the meeting point. I went there so much that one of the staff recognised me the -Next Festival- when i went for my usual cheese and onion 🙂 The current generic van nearer the entrance to the kidz field is ok, but lacks something. But as I caravan it these days, it's generally the last food I grab before heading to bed, so it'll have to do. the other 'toastie' venues on site do not deserve recognition.
  16. Nice day for some DIY today 🙂 re-did the frame for the hinged tabletop: The side panels are now recessed so they don't have interference when it's all folded down - left hand side is switches and stuff for the solar charge controller: right hand side is the radio, with some smaller speakers as the old ones were too tall 🙂 and for some reason I forgot to photo it with the top on until it got dark, so heres an out of focus pic showing that I trimmed the plywood surface and then tablesawed a trim piece to go on the leading edge, I'm trying to learn woodworking basics and this seemed like a good thing to practice with 🙂 Some more paint needed to keep it looking tidy and damp proof, but as a silly project, it's going well 🙂 I'll be pondering ways to add drawers tomorrow, without needing too much hardware.
  17. I'm too old for the hassle of trying to get to the front for a Pyramid headliner these days - I usually watch from the back, in line with the tree mostly. Usually theres space and no hassle to pop to the loo. But the other stages, I'm always up for that, got to the front for Wet Leg (not technically a headliner I know, but it was busy!) , whcih was amazing, and West Holts is pretty easy to get right to the front as well, got a top spot for the most recent Underworld set.
  18. looks like a Renault Traffic (or Vaux Vivaro, shared platform)
  19. Grabbed an hour to do some more work this evening. Tidy your workspace 🙂 (as much as you can anyway) and mocked up the tilting table with the current lumber it was made of - it really doesn't need to be this sturdy 🙂 video of it 'in action' :

    Lost Horizons

they are normally located in the tipi field, if you're heading from the stone circle towards the Park, it'll be on your left as you walk past the tipis.
  21. Managed a bit of dismembering this morning before work, the base of the desk seems to be fine, but I'm going to run some caulk round the edges to tidy it up and also make some closing panels for the left hand side front - the right hand side will be drawers. the unit in the middle is the sink, it stands up on the right of the pic, over the borwn wood you can see, which is covering the wheelarch. Again, it's too tall to stay in place, so all needs to be modular. What a mess 🙂 The frames round the windows are just that, some frames I made, with lexan screwed on, and then covered in limo black car window tint 🙂 they clip in place and keep the caravan a bit cooler, as well as adding privacy - you can't see in at all.
  22. Started on the annual 'what has worn out this year' on the caravan. Happily, it unfolded OK and all the panels seem sturdy, though I've ordered some new gas struts as the ones on it are probably 40 years old and don't give much lift. Possible issues with new struts though is that the extra 'push' might break something thats only used to the old struts 🙂 I have vague plans for the interior though, which I started earlier this evening. The 'table' is in two pieces, as nothing inside the caravan can be higher than the lowest side panel hinge (see pics) so the base is in two parts, secured to the floor and sides - one side houses the leisure battery, the other has pull out storage, which i'm going to change up to some drawers as well. The top was put together years ago with some chunky bits of 2x4 I had for something, and I was going to redo it 'after the festival' but I never did. The top is heavy and needs to be picked up and placed on the floor so the caravan can be closed properly, so my new plan is to make the top hinge over, and sit on some stops, which will probably be more storage. I'll remake it from much smaller dimensioned wood, so it'll be lighter. It'll also need the wiring made more modular - I like having a radio, good to listen to WorthyFM on the tuesday evening 🙂 some pics - everything looks grubby as , well, it is 🙂 I paint the whole thing white every year, but over winter, it gets damp, things peel etc, it'll get tidied at some point before the fest 🙂 current setup - bench in place: (note years of repairs to the sides, not pretty, but sturdy 🙂 ) bench un-setup ready to close up the cravan: nothing can be higher than the side hinges, otherwise the caravan won't close properly: Hopefully I'll get started on the new top part tomorrow evening 🙂
