I read elsewhere on the 'net that there are rumours of LDR touring European festivals this summer (Rock en Seine still has no acts announced for its opening day proper) and that led me to remember this pic.

Not my bag at all, but went with the Mrs and kids in the Summer to see her at Wembley, and it was without a doubt the worst concert I have ever been to. even the ones I went with who like her, said it was awful

Saw her headline Latitude festival in, I think, 2018. I reckon half the people there had left by the end of the show.

It was like she was heavily sedated. Arrived half-an-hour late and played about 70 minutes. Woeful.

So unfortunate to have the habit of starting late when your name rhymes with delay.

Saw her in 2018 at Sziget, bit of boring. Nothing against her music, it’s just it’s not for festivals in my opinion, would work much better in a smokey bar or at a more intimate place.

From what I think, Zara Larsson is highly possible as one of the artists to be announced as a sub-headliner. She has gained a significant amount of hype on TikTok thanks to the renaissance of Lush Life and the viral dance trend surrounding the song, and she is currently touring across European festivals, which makes her a very realistic booking.

Another possible interpretation of the umbrella emoji teased by Leaks could point to two different artists. One strong candidate is Bring Me The Horizon, as the symbol may reference the cover art of their That’s the Spirit album, which prominently features an umbrella, and they are also touring Europe in July.
However, in my opinion, this theory might not fully hold up, as it feels like this year’s major rock band slot is already covered by Twenty One Pilots.

The other artist the umbrella could hint at is Lana Del Rey. As we know, Sziget Festival was reportedly very eager to book her for the 2024 edition. Later, in the Kádár podcast, the organizers openly admitted that they were not satisfied at all with that year’s lineup and revealed that their main focus was on securing a single artist. They wanted that act so badly that, in the end, the deal did not come together—strongly suggesting that Lana Del Rey was the artist they failed to secure.

Rihanna can most likely be ruled out. She hasn’t released a studio album in over ten years, has only contributed to music through soundtracks in recent years, and after her widely criticized 2016 performance, it’s hard to imagine the festival taking that risk again.

It could be garbage who are touring.  This date would be only a few weeks after their latest announced date.  There biggest song is.  I’m only happy when it rains.

I hope they bring their beach ball with them.

Garbage are, at best, an average-sized band nowadays. I'm not sure they're even big enough to sub at this point in their career. Which is a shame as I used to love them.

Garbage + Travis combo to headline.

Saw Garbage at TRNSMT in 2024 and even though it was a somewhat local show for them not many people turned out for a subheadline set, most people were there for Liam Gallagher

Yeah, I think that's on YouTube somewhere, I seem to remember switching it off. Was giving me second-hand embarrassment at the poor turn out.

Lorde in Croatia - Pula arena 18.8, it puts her right next to Sziget, It is certainly quite possible that she would close the festival. Imagine Dragons did same for example, both events, just from the top of my head.

She can only do the first day, as she is already announced for other festivals, but it would be great to have her at sziget.

Been listening to my Sziget playlist quite a lot over the past couple of weeks as had meetings all over the country and spent a lot of time in the car.

Here's what I learned.....

Acts I already knew and liked: Twenty One Pilots, Biffy Clyro, Florence and the Machine, sombr, Tash Sultana, Lambrini Girls, Underworld, Paris Paloma.

Acts I've got into: oskar med k, Antony Szmierek, Zimmer90, Cassia, Tomora, Charlotte Cardin, Brooke Coombe, Dijon.

Acts I just can't get into: Giant Rooks, Bad Nerves, Lewis Capaldi 🤣

    • Thanks so much - that's very helpful. Someone else mentioned getting a train from Loughborough to East Midlands Parkway, and then a festival shuttle from there to the site. I think they were then going to come back on the Skylink Derby to Loughborough - I assume this is because the trains don't run as late as the Skylink, otherwise they would just come back the same way they came?! Is the transport hub a long way from the main stage? Just wondering what time I would need to leave Linkin Park to be sure of getting a shuttle. As I say, I am sure it will all be clear on the day, even after a few beers! Just hope the rain stays away...
    • I really don't think they would put Olivia Rodrigo on Occident stage. If it was her, they would put her in earlier Mordor slot and move Big Thief or Little Simz to Occident.   Fontaines DC are more probable, but don't really match the hype. However, again, if the hype was real, the artist would end up in Mordor.   That being said, I would love to see Fontaines DC tonight.
    • After all the good advice on here I had a nice visit to the site earlier in the week.    Walked down from Pilton village to Hitchen Hill and down the footpath to the Wood by Woodies.    Really strange seeing the site empty of 100,000 people. There is far more hedges and woodland on the site than you remember when the festival is on. Can see the stone circle and some structures still up on site. And looks like Worthy View has some camping going on there during the summer too.   Lots was fenced off with electric fencing to help wth the cattle grazing. Is really amazing how they set up the site as its hard enough accessing the area by car and foot nevermind all the kit needed to set the festival up. As others said you can't walk the whole site but nice to see the site again after a few years away   Pilton is also a lovely village with a nice village hall shop and post office attached, and got to speak to some locals who told me a few tales of past festivals down the years. One house for sale there would be lovely to live in - if only I had £2 million going spare
    • 6music just shared a video of all of Fontaines DC singing along to the Cure last night. It'll be them. Booooo    Olivia might get up for I Love You though...
