What other acts are we hoping to appear on the lineup?

I reckon we've got a couple of Obelisk subs and a tent headliner too but theres still plenty to add

Someone like Sparks or Fat Dog in the tent would be a treat and would love if they had some decent names such as Wolf Alice in a special guest slot like Elbow last year

What's seriously missing so far and what a lot of people I feel are disappointed with is the lack of energy.  Teddy Swims and Lewis Capaldi are both very similar and lets be honest, it's not music that gets the crowd jumping.  After attending the last 6 festivals, I feel the best acts and most received with the Latitude demographic has been artists such as Chemical Brothers, Underworld, Confidence Man, Fat Boy Slim, Kasabian.  This type of booking has really worked in the past and so far we're missing something similar.  I'm hoping for Leftfield to headline the tent and gutted they didn't go all out and get The Cure to headline.  Very disappointing headliners for what was made of this being the 20th anniversary in my opinion.  My teenage nieces are very happy though!

I get the point about there not being a bigger dance act yet. But getdown services have got loads of energy live.

Also, self esteem has got loads of energy live as well so already got some good options which aren't slow paced.

Different jam but david byrne and flaming lips are also 2 incredible live acts.

David byrne plays plenty of taking heads songs in his set so I reckon people will be dancing to once in a lifetime and his xpress2 collab Lazy (which I'm not sure is in the current setlist, but might be for a festival).

Getdown Services sound promising. Other than David Bryne, Wet leg and Flaming lips I'm still very disappointed considering how they built the 20th Anniversary up to be something special. I suppose there's still time for improvement.

Yeah, totally agree. But even a bit more.

Gutted with the line up and I feel like I’m right in their demographic; middle aged parent, teenage kids. I’ve taken my boys to festies since they were 3 and 5, moving through Shambala to Greenman and now they’re into their teens, Latitude was spot on. Crash out at the comedy in the afternoon, boys know where I am. They can stay and laugh with me or pester me for churros before safely wandering. In the evening, we’d go and see a headliner together. Lovely. Kasabian and Duran Duran two years ago, Sting (=Police) and Snow Patrol this year.

Next year’s line up has flattened us. The look on my now 14 yr olds face, not sure what he was hoping for but I really thought he was going to cry. His brother’s decided to go to Truck with his mates.

I guess we’re just out of sync, Teddy Swims, Lewis Capaldi, Tom Grennan, Tom Odell, vocal-focussed music, all good, excellent singers I’m sure, not really our bag. Then it flips the other way with Getdown Services, English Teacher and Dry Cleaning. I reckon I’ll enjoy them but can’t see us being together.

Yep, I need to take my fatherly responsibilities and play more Talking Heads (I have I have, honest), but if you look at David Byrne’s recent set list, it’s not old skool banger after banger like Sting or Duran Duran. Nonetheless, my best hope for a family headliner. I’m a massive fan of The Flaming Lips, seen them many times, but not for me the exciting explosion of a band I was hoping we could see together.

And then desperately going through the announced bands hoping to cheer my boys up I found … Just Mustard!!! Wow!!! They sound like my new Bloody Valentine! My youngest’s favourite band is M83 (and yes, I saw them at Latitude and they were great) so I reckon I’ve got one for him now. Desperately hoping for me in future announcements.

I saved quite a few bob with the loyalty tickets but the look on my son’s face was not worth the saving. Next year, I’m gonna wait and see who the headliners and major undercard are before buying them. I’m sure it’s just us, we’re an N of 1, and it works for everyone else which is great.

This year headliners were solid but undercard poor due to it. Next year headliners poor apart from Sunday and undercard better. But IOW have the best of the undercard and much better headliners

I totally agree with everything you've said.  We go as a family of 10 with ages ranging from 2 to 45.  For us, nothing beats being at the Obelisk as a big group, having a dance and enjoying the party atmosphere.  Although I really like some of the undercard, Getdown Services and Just Mustard especially, it's just not feasible for all of us to be together, when they'll likely be playing one of the smaller stages.  Fingers crossed for some better additions, as like you, we all get loyalty tickets.

Next year's headliners "poor apart from Sunday"? Are you talking about Latitude 2026?!

Nope. They've both got undercard crossover. This yesr poor Latitude undercard but solid headliners, this year a bit the opposite but IOW have the best of the undercard with better headliners. Obviously that's personally speaking haha

Looking at a setlist from this week, half the songs he perfomrs are Talking Heads songs. That is pretty similar to Sting last year with Police songs.

I only watched one of the headliners last year and I'm intending it to be the same this year so it's about the same for me.

It's a bit too early to say what the undercard is like at Latitude 2026, as this time last year they hadn't announced Air, Doves, Basement Jaxx or Maribou State which were my four favourite performances across the weekend.

I was quite happy they hadn't haha. Latitude always seems to be good for headliners and not so good for the undercard for me or opposite so each time which I have looked at going there is a spanner.

Whether you like or dislike Lewis Capaldi he is a proven to shift tickets, he has a broad cross over appeal with older and younger fans and he has big hits that people know.

He passes the "do people in the office who don't like music know who he is" test.

I'm surprised that Latitude got him to be honest because I thought he was too big now.

He's totally not my sort of music but I'm not going to get bent out of shape because he's headlining. It's exactly the sort of act I would expect.

I expect whilst he is honking like a goose on the main stage there will be someone I like elsewhere.

As mentioned upthread. If you are a shoegaze fan check out just mustard, they have a new album out and are very good. Saw them a few years ago at the phoebe bridgers mirrors festival.

Latitude will every now and then get a big booking and he's very clearly bigger than the other two, in fact the top line has suffered due to it. While Davie Byrne on an exclusive might be a decent deal, he's a sub there max. IOW also must be giving him sub or 3rd down max but they've got massive headliners compared.

David Byrne is a massive get. Arguably bigger than any of IOW headliners. At least just as big as The Cure. The guy pretty much sold out a 12 date UK tour in a matter of hours. He's not played the UK since 2018. It's a massive festival exclusive.

He's doing London Hammersmith Apollo and Apollo Manchester along with Glasgow, he's not even on the same scale as The Cure as a booking. Both apollos are 3.5k each so 14k in both cities.

Having seen clips from the US leg of the tour, it seems a deliberate choice to play smaller venues as its more of a theatrical show than a gig

Whilst I agree he's not as big a name as The Cure and his solo work is probably less well known than someone like Sting, he's still the lead singer of one of the most pioneering bands of all time so he's probably going to shift a decent amount of tickets, especially as an exclusive and following a sold out tour

I agree with above as well that Capaldi is probably going to sell out Sunday, there's a lot of demand for him and the nearest shows at BST have sold out twice over

Teddy Swims is my one anomaly where I have no clue how he'll fare. I don't know how well his outdoor shows are selling but again he's currently the 60th most streamed artist on Spotify right now so he's clearly popular

Itll be interesting to see the day splits once announced, I reckon we get a few more names next month before the usual day splits and larger announcement at the end of January

I mean in general Latitude trio is poor, i dont think his talking heads i fluence changes that. Teddy Swims though headlining isn't good. I'm mot against a deliberate smaller tour but 14k tickets in London and in Manchester is 5k off both of their two fo their own biggest arenas for one night combined. Lewis has told 65k twice into the £120s and 130s. He's not even on the same scale as Lewis, let alone The Cure.

He's doing 4 nights at Hammersmith and that's a conscious decision to play smaller venues for his shows.

Stop Making Sense was a cinema event last year. Talking Heads kudos hasn't been higher in years.

I have acknowledged that by saying 14k in both cities, I'd be worried if it was just one or two. Whichever way, it's nowhere near on the level of booking The Cure or Lewis.

David Byrne as a headliner is better than any of the headliners last year. If the Flaming Lips headline the second stage on Saturday or Sunday then I'd have two headliners sorted off the bat. I don't think it really matters too much who is headlining the main stage as long as there is another headliner you want to see. You can only be in one place at a time.

I'd take all 3 this year without question over him myself. Yes at festivals where there is a clashing headliner you like its not a big deal, I dont think that's a debate. Unfortunately not every festival these days has that or even one clashing.
