Utd are going to go big on midfielders, prefer 2/3 in the early to mid 20s personally.

This stuff is why I'm kinda optimistic he'll stay for the main bulk of his career, maybe have a retirement year in Saudi or back in Brazil or MLS or something. I think he genuinely loves us and it'd take a mega offer to leave, which Barca can't afford.

I mean, there's still 2 months of the season to go and then another month from that until the transfer window opens, much of the early phase of which is going to be in the background because of the World Cup. So I could argue transfer rumours right now are less relevant. The Bruno link is unusual due to it being a source that doesn't normally get involved with this stuff, but we'll wait and see.

 

I'm expecting a busy window at SJP tbf including a big sale, mind. Though the big name player I thought we'd be likeliest to have poached was Tonali, not least thanks to that weird deadline day thing about him and Arsenal. But again, think the focus for now for us as fans rather than those who work in recruitment departments is try to get into a European qualification place for next season and worry about the window when the season ends.

I don't know if its true, but I read Tonali and Bruno's agents believe only one will be allowed to leave in this summer so both are trying to front run the other with all these rumours.

Wouldn't be a surprise given the way agents operate and the fact that losing both at the same time would be painful. Sure, we beat Chelsea on Saturday without either, but I think it said more about a spectacularly poor Chelsea team. Tonali is the likelier one to leave if you asked me right now, particularly if Italy fail in World Cup qualifying next week meaning he'll have more time to make an exit, but I guess we'll see.

I know we'd only be 3 points behind Chelsea with a win tomorrow but given the amount of banana skins Sunderland have dropped before us over the years, I'm not getting that cocky.

Anyway, the Utd and Everton away games are guaranteed losses, in fact looking at Liverpool’s run in I can’t see many if any points and still they won’t sack him.

I’m not surprised to see Chelsea stuttering when I saw them (admittedly fringe players) struggle to hold on against 10 man Wrexham it looked like a squad that lacked character. To me Rosenior almost feels like an AI manager.

I've heard rumour that the way Slot's contract is structured he doesn't get a payout if Liverpool don't get CL, while if he qualifies or its mid-season sacking him costs shitloads.

 

Would you take missing CL qualification to get rid of Slot?

I think the entire character in that squad is Reece James. Little bit Caicedo. With James injured for basically the rest of the season I think they'll be in freefall.

Just doing stuff like surrounding the referee in their circle is wierd, I can imagine the players would be embarrassed. It’s stuff that I think is hard enough to get away with when winning, never mind when you are not.

That would be really odd though. How much do clubs make from champions league? Prize money? gate receipts?  TV revenue?  merchandise? I would imagine well over 100m. 

 

How much would they pay slot? 10% of that figure maybe.

Clearly I was right not to get cocky because holy sh*t that was a disaster. Decent job in the first half without scoring a second, but absolutely abysmal management of the second half.

 

That's 22 points lost in the PL from winning positions now. Even just 8 points more and we'd be above Liverpool and Chelsea in 5th and in the conversation for a Champions League place. Hell, just 5 more and we'd be a point behind Chelsea.

 

There is clearly something very wrong in the way we manage games and the fact this is happening again and again is making me think Howe may not have the answers.

Oh Spurs are absolutely f**ked. Played well in the first half, really unlucky to be 1-0 down, and then the second half was eleven blokes strolling around wondering what to do with themselves. Forest aren’t particularly good at all but have beaten us 6-0 on aggregate and that’s absolutely disgusting, we’re awful - don’t just deserve relegation, we warrant being closed down and being struck from the record books. An exercise in torture, not a football club any more. And now three weeks of stewing on the misery ffs! Don’t think we’ll win another game, so all West Ham have to do is win one of their last seven and I think that’s that. Brilliant.

Villa won this weekend too so that strengthens their hand as well. Obviously 7 games left so could still go in various directions, but one of Liverpool or Chelsea feel like they're going to miss. Chelsea is the one I'd imagine though given they seem to be in a state of collapse.
